I found out yesterday so I got him a belated Father’s DaY card! I wanted to get a cute onesie or something but I POAS at 6 am and I couldn’t wait until the mall opened so I had to go to the grocery store since it was open!

@ParaSarah:  First one I woke him up at 5AM on Thanksgiving Day morning with a positive pregnancy test. This time around I got our daughter a “Big Sister” t-shirt from Kohls– which was incredibly hard to find for a 8 month old at the time (I had to stick her in a 2T lol). I then put her in her crib, turned on the video camera and called him over. His reaction was really funny and it’s nice to have it on video ๐Ÿ™‚ Poor guy looked so shocked–the pregnancy was planned but I’d been complaining about PMS symptoms and even put a pad on that morning because it felt like my period was coming. We reused the shirt the next times our parents came to town to tell them!

I took the test in the afternoon while Darling Husband was out. I wrapped the test up like a gift and gave him that. When he looked at me in shock, I handed him the dog (a chihuahua) that was wearing a t-shirt that read “Did you hear the news? I’m going to be a big sister!” I was really happy that I told him in funny way, instead of just waving a still dripping pee stick in his face (which I would have done if he were home).
FX for you!!!

ive always wanted to think of a cute way to announce it but i feel like he would a. be able to tell something was up with me, or b. i would probably blurt it out from the excitement. Not to mention that we dont really keep much from each other. I love the idea of getting him a baby gift to throw them off, and get a cute reaction.

My husband was hunting and didnt have cell service so I actually got to plan something out instead of just running and giving him the test ( which is exactly what i would have done if he were home)

We order chinese frequently –  so I took a fortune cookie i had sitting around and opened it  and pulled out the old fortune with tweezers and made a new fortune in it that said ” Confuscious says your family will be getting an addition very soon”  Lucky numers 7-20-13  (something along those lines)

Then when  he had cell service on the way home he called and i said i wanted chinese and would have it here when he got home .  I made us plates and had the cookies on the plates too – and we were eating it in the living room – well he basically took his sweet time – had a plate and then had another and sat there processing his huge meal while I am like STARING at this cookie… and then i say ok eat your cookie so i can do the dishes – and he pops it opeen and reads it and says – you are NOT going to believe this fortune…. and then looked up at me and knew it was me bc i was crying and then he was crying  ๐Ÿ™‚  We had only been trying for 3 months but it seemed like FOREVER.  I guess you just assume you will get pregnant the first time you try so when it doesnt – anything past that one week seems like ages.

We had discussed taking pictures of our running shoes with baby shoes in the middle as an announcement for the pregnancy we were planning, so I had already picked up a pair of baby shoes to have on hand.  I got a card for him & gave him the shoes with the pee stick in the shoe box as well.

And our announcement pic (for family):

we made a card with this picture and wrote “New runner coming Spring of 2013” on the inside.

We were not trying at all so it was a BIT of a surprise. I handed him a glass of whiskey and said “You’re gonna want to drink this.” We were both really excited but nervous at the same time.

Not a cute way at all!

I took the test at 5 AM because I couldn’t wait any longer.

I ran out of the bathroom, jumped on the bed, shoved the pee stick in his face and said “what does this say?!?!?!?!?!”

It was a digital, so after about 2 minutes of him being completely out of it and having no idea what was going on, he read it “Pregnant?!” and that was it!

I actually made a Craigslist post saying I wanted to trade our fur babies for baby items. Darling Husband is ALWAY on CL looking for things to flip and bargains so it made sense to me to tell him that way. He read the post and was totally confused. He was like “You worte this didn’t you?” And then I started crying and he FINALLY put it together. lol.

I haven’t gotten a BFP yet, but I ordered an organic onsie from Cafe Press, and had his company logo printed on it with “My daddy builds Empires” on it. He always jokes about how he’s building an empire, so I thought it would be cute. Hoping I get to give it to him this month!

@ParaSarah:  We’re actively trying NOT to conceive right now, but when we do start trying I’m going to order one of those onesies that says “I’ve been listening to NPR since conception”. SO is a BIG NPR fan and has me hooked now too. Since we wake up to it and often have morning fun time, the onesie would probably be fairly accurate ๐Ÿ˜›

This was a huge surprise for both of us. I had planned to bring him a pizza and after we ate, I would casually hand him a copy of the book “Dude You’re Going to be a Dad.”

Instead, as we were getting ready to eat our pizza, he asked me if I wanted a beer. I declined, which is way weird. He reminded me it was a kind I really like and I ended up just blurting out “I’M PREGNANT!” I admit to having TERRIBLE timing very often.

We just kind of sat around staring into the space the rest of the night. Tho, I did have to eat some of that pizza ๐Ÿ™‚

I went all day at work keeping my little secret. After work I ran to the store and grabbed a card and a onesie. Once my husband got home I told him I got him a little present. He looked at me weird and I started recording him on my phone. (BEST video ever, I have watched it like 20 times) His reaction was absolutely amazing. The card was signed: Congrats Daddy, Love Mommy and Baby due Feb 25th! I also wrapped my THREE BFP inside the onesie.

@RoyalLime:  OMG Congrats! I missed your BFP announcement, but have seen you’ve been trying for a long time.  So very happy for you!!!
