I just took a test (at work on lunch) that was positive. Darling Husband and I have talked about TTC soon but we havent actually started so Im a little nervous.
I know Im happy because when only the first line showed up I was bummed. Now Im sweaty and shakey.
So How did you tell your man? I really dont want to call him at work so maybe I’ll just show him the test tonight.

@mrsjets: First, congratulations!
Second, I’m a bad example, I wanted to do something memorable and romantic to tell my Darling Husband, but since I ended up taking the test at like 2:30 in the morning, I think I burst into the bedroom, flipped on all the lights and jumped into bed to wake him up.
I may have even thumped him to get him to wake up faster. It was a genuine, visceral response, but not a very good story 🙂

He was at home with me when I took the test and I was too nervous to read the results so I told him to look at it and tell me so technicially he found out before me

I told him the night before our 1-year anniversary (also our 1st night in Hawaii for our belated honeymoon). I gave him a card, and inside there was a picture of my positive pregnancy test with the words “you’re going to be a daddy”! In retrospect, Darling Husband doesn’t handle surprises really well, so he was kind of shocked. It took him a few days (or more) to wrap his head around the news. One thing is for sure though… he will never forget how he found out, and now he tells people the story all the time.

Congratulations!!! Honestly, I am more of a just tell him when you get home person. But that is just me, I’m into straighforwardness.

why don’t you bring home an “it’s a boy” and “it’s a girl” balloon? or “congratulations” and when he asks why, show him the test!
I think a congratulations card/balloon is a great idea because he’ll be a bit confused at first, but then you could show him the pregnancy test or a picture of it.

@bookworm88: “why don’t you bring home an “it’s a boy” and “it’s a girl” balloon?”
He’d probably think she is having twins, lol!

@mrsjets:Congratulations!!! We are TTC and my husband wants to be with me when I test because of prior issues but if he didn’t I’d probably buy a cute onesie and wrap it for him. My husband plays baseball so I always thought it’d be fun to get a onesie that says “Daddy’s Little Slugger” or something on the front and our last name on the back. I’ve also heard of people making a “baby” dinner…baby carrots, baby potatoes, etc. and seeing how long it takes for them to catch on. Or putting a hotdog/hamburger bun in the oven and ask him to check what’s cooking/tell him you have a bun in the oven.
Let us know what you end up doing 🙂

When Darling Husband and I get pregnant, I plan to go buy a onesie, bib, or something similar that references “Dad” or “Daddy” and wrap it up for him.

Thanks guys! I know false positives are rare but they do happen so I think I’ll just talk to him tonight and then take the other test in the morning with him when it’s more accurate. I do like the idea of a congrats card though.
I cant wait to go home now! Work smurk!

I love the baby dinners, but Darling Husband would NEVER get it. Ever. Even if I went into labor during the dinner.
I messed up and left the test box in the trash in the bathroom, so the surprise was ruined. I ended up just throwing it at him with a big stupid smile on my face.

I bought a onesie that said “I love my daddy”. Then when Darling Husband got home from work, I told him I picked hime up something from Target. He pulled out the onesie, looked at it for a few seconds, then asked (super slowly) “Really?” Once I confirmed that I wasn’t just messing with him, he was excited (and a little teary), and did his “Super Sperm” dance around the house.

So he was super excited! So happy! I had to stop him from phoning people, he didnt understand why it has to be descreet for a bit.
Goldilocks1107 haha my Darling Husband was like “I have stong spem hey babe” and I laughed and say “Oh yes hun”

Congrats!!! First pregnancy, I baked cookies and asked him to come over (I was going to flat out show him the test) but he came over, grabbed the cookies and said he had to leave right away! I was so bummed. I ended up telling him over the phone.
This time, I signed us up for weekly updates on the progress of the pregnancy – I entered in his e-mail so he got this random e-mail that said “Your baby is 4 weeks along”. He instantly called me from work – nothing too exciting like some of the bee’s stories!
