ReddBee:  Well, I definitely didn’t surprise DH. This is our second pregnancy this year (first ended in a MC), so I just out the test on his desk and said “Hey, there’s something on your desk.” He smiled and said “Alright!” when he saw it. We decided to only tell parents and siblings at 8 weeks (last week) because we are still so cautious. I sent them a riddle, pretending I had a hard time figuring it out- When does 1+1=3? They got the typical answer (when a couple is pregnant) but we responded with “Close! When Mr. And Mrs. KatiePi are having a baby!” And sent a picture is the first ultrasound. It was simple and fun to see their reactions. For friends, we’ll just tell them after the 13ish weeks mark.

ReddBee:  I already had a clue I was at 10Dpo and took the test on a Tuesday where my husband had to go to work that day… So I drove to walmart bought a PT and went home straight to test and it tested positive… as soon as it was positive I made plans to go to the mall and buy a onesie outfit and wrapped it with my test and waited till he got home. He had a long and bad day /: traffic was super crazy that day and our car had broke down On him when he was coming home… Picked hIm up and we came home to eat before we would go back to grab the car, well before we went I figure I surprise him so that it would make him happy since he was already having a crappy day, he opened the gift and was shocked & surprised and was sooo happy! Lol he kept asking so many questions, like when can we tell lol Etc it was so cute. I’m glad that it made his day a whole lot better though.

I had a custom onesie made from etsy that said “baby (last name) coming soon!” When I got my BFP I put it on our dog and sent her out into the living room where my DH was. at first he didn’t believe me haha

to tell our families, we facetimed with them all on Christmas and held up the onesie so they could see it. They were all surprised and super happy!

At my wedding shower we got a bunch of wine to “quench our thirst through all of our firsts”. So there was a bottle with a little rhyme on it for our first fight, first Christmas, first anniversary, first baby, etc.  I put the first baby one in the fridge and told him I bought him a present when I got groceries (usually a ‘present’ would be like his favourite chocolate bar or something dumb like that). It took him a minute but he was pretty shocked when he found it!  If we didn’t have that bottle I probably would have left the pee stick out see if he noticed the two lines.

For our parents we just told them because my mom pretty much guessed, so no time for thinking up something cute.  For my sister- she collects cute mugs. I told her I got her one at the thrift store. It was a mug that I made that said “Auntie est. Oct 2015” with our ultrasound picture in it. She was pretty shocked it was a great reaction!

I sent some of my friends (the ones I didn’t tell in person) a text message with a picture I took with my cat showing off with the ultrasound picture. The picture said “Look mom I’m cuter than the baby” I think I found that idea on google.

There are some great ideas in this thread! I am not yet pregnant but I have a pair of baby shoes wrapped up in a closet waiting to give them to my husband!

ReddBee:  we told our families on Christmas.

For my mom I ordered on etsy a fortune cookie with a personalized fortune that said “Prepare yourself for a surprise that takes nine month to arrive. Lucky Numbers 7-2015” I chose a fortune cookie bc its a funny story behInd it. (We had dinner at my aunts house, ordered chinese food, and when i went to grab a fortune cookie there were none left bc my mom ate them all! And i said to her – there were 4 fortune cookies, there are 4 people here, did you think to ask if anyone else?)

My Mother-In-Law we ordered a christmas ornament (from etst as well), with a pair of booties inside with a note on the bottom that said “coming soon july 2015”

Then on FB I announced it using my dog Daisy-I have a lot of friends and family in other states that I dont see often.

When I was little I gave my grandma a stuffed bear who is wearing a dress that says “worlds best grandma”. When she died i got it back, and plan on sending it to my mom when we get pregnant.

As for telling DH, I’m sure I’ll be yelling and jumping around too much to surprise him 🙂
