How did your parent’s meet? Share if you want to!
My parents met at a work conference in San Diego. They were both working at different universities in Boston, had many colleagues in common, but didn’t know each other. They have always said that they were introduced at the San Diego conference because it was my Dad’s birthday. A mutual acquaintance invited my Mom to go out that night because a bunch of people were celebrating a friend’s birthday. That friend was my Dad! They married five years later.
That has always been my favorite story to hear from my Mom…so romantic 🙂

My parents met through friends at his birthday party

Well, originally I heard at a Derby party in Lousiville, but that story has since morphed into meeting at a bar? It was a friend’s friend and it was still a Derby party, but still… I find it funny that as I’ve gotten older, the story has become a little bit funnier.

My parents lived in the same apartment complex. My mother thought my dad was cute, so she left a love note on his car windshield. He wasn’t sure if it was my mom or her roommate, so he bought flowers for both of them. After that, they were an item.

KMSull-I heard two stories growing up-one was the one above. The other was my Mom always swearing that she met my Dad at the zoo and he was in or at the monkey exhibit. Haha She always meant this entirely jokingly of course. They have a great relationship (and are still married)

My parents met at a bar when my dad spilt Beer all of over my mom.
He spent the rest of the night cleaning her lap and chatting her up!
I think it’s a cute story!

My parents also met in high school.I always thought it was a cute story.
When my mom finally decided she wanted to talk to him, she waited until he had his head in his locker and bumped him with her hip to where he would knock (not hard) his head into his locker. When he spun around ready to hit whatever guy did it to him, saw my mom and the rest is history.
They were together everyday, minus the time he was drafted for the Vietnam War, until the day he passed away 12 years ago.

These stories are so romantic! Love this post!
My parents met on the beach in their hometown. Dad was a surfer, mom was a beach bunny. As the story goes, he asked for her number and she told him her name only. He went through the phonebook for two days calling every house with her last name and asking for her. Finally found her. Happily married for 30 some years.
I need a cute story for how my Fiance and I met. It’s not romantic. Do you think it’s ok to tweak your “how we met” story?!

My parents knew each other from very early. Their families lived a mile apart from each other, and they went to the same schools. However, they didn’t get along well when they were younger because while walking home from the bus stop at the age of 6(mum) and 8(dad), my dad threw mum into an umbrella plant on the side of the road. She was actually really allergic to them and had to take ‘horse sized pills’ (as she recalls it) to make the rash go away. They later got together in high school and all was forgiven!

My parents met at work at the Post office. My dad asked her out several times but she kept turning him down because she thought he was too young for her (she had two small kids from a previous relationship). He persisted and she finally accepted to tell him why they couldn’t date. Their first date lasted 5 hours–until the restaurant closed and kicked them out. They were engaged at 8 months..and married before their one year anniversary. This August they’ll have been married for 30 years!

my parents were high school sweethearts! my mom was a popular girl, and my dad was a complete nerd, but she says he was the first guy she ever went out with who actually listened to her instead of just trying to make a move! they got married really young, and their 39th wedding anniversary is tomorrow 🙂

My parents met as children. My grandfather was the pastor at the church my mom and her family attended. Since dad was one of four brothers and mom one of three sisters + a brother, they would get together for playdates. Mom and dad were each other’s first kiss in my grandparent’s basement; mom always had a crush on him.
My favorite meeting story is my maternal grandparents. My grandmother was a scrappy southern belle and my grandfather was a yankee soldier. She was living with her family in Baltimore when grandpa was on leave. He was walking past Lovely Lane UMC when he saw my grandmother walk out of the church, and he had an epiphany, heavens open up and choirs of angels sing moment. That night he wrote to his father, saying he found the woman he was going to marry. He spent an anxious week waiting for Sunday to arrive, in the hopes that she would be there, which she was. Rest is history. 🙂
