niahc :  I ultimately got mine from a consignment shop for $700, but saw good options for about $500 too. You’ll likely get the best deal (at least from my experience) if you buy directly from another individual. How well that would work will depend on your location, size and luck 🙂 I will add that the consignment store I went to also had some nice options on sale for $500 (that was the cheapest I saw for new).

Overall, I think $500 is doable with some patience and research as long as you aren’t too locked into a particular type of dress.

niahc :  I had a very similar budget to yours, ideally $500 CAN but figured I would have to go a few hundred over. There was nothing I liked at all within my budget in the 5 bridal salons I visited (even a second-hand one). Then I found my absolute dream dress on Etsy for just over $500! And the quality was AMAZING, much better than a lot of the dresses I tried on in boutiques. I would highly recommend Etsy to other brides on a budget.

My wedding dress budget was low, too…$500. But the first shop I walked into I told them my budget and they took me to a whole section with dresses in my budget. I found a beautiful dress for $340…originally over $700. It is entirely possible!

Take a look at second hand dresses! A lot of women give away their dresses so you can still find modern beautiful ones for a lot cheaper. You would never guess my cousin’s dress was used plus it fit her like a glove so no alterations necessary

I was able to get a David’s Bridal dress, originally $1400, for $380.  I tried some on in store and then bought online during a sale.  I had it in my cart for a few days and they sent me a 10% off code.

There is a gently used bridal shop in my area and most are $200 and some look brand new!

You can definitely find something beautiful and perfect! I bought my dress for $600 on sale (originally $2700). It was off the rack from Alfred Angelo.

Good luck bee! You can definitely do it!

I went to a salon knowing I wouldn’t be able to afford any dresses there (my budget was also $500), tried on a bunch of different styles to get an idea of what looked best on me, and found a style I really loved. Here’s the dress, which was $1,300.

I looked on Tradesy and similar sites and found a dress that had all the parts of the $1,300 dress I loved for only $200.

Alterations cost about $300, so I was able to stay in my budget. 🙂 Good luck!

I would check goodwill/salvation army.

Goodwill has an online store.

Me personally I got my dress from dressilyme. They had great reviews on YouTube. Cost $350 including shipping!

P.s after calling dry cleaners to get price to clean a dress it wasn’t worth it….

OP, take a look at Mori Lee as well! Beautiful, wide variety of designs, lots of options under $1000… And you can actually try before you buy, unlike online stores.

I paid $100 for mine (on sale) at David’s Bridal. I got a lot of compliments on it. I saw a dress that I really loved that was on sale for $500. Alterations for that dress would have been $250. I’m glad I went with the cheaper dress.

I got mine on clearance at a bridal store… My budget was $700 and the dress was $400… I also looked on second hand sites like preownedweddingdresses.com and stillwhite.ca… You can always try on dresses in a salon and then try to find the ones you liked on the second hand sites.

I think it depends on what you’re looking for, I don’t have a traditional gown. I got my dress for under 100 euros. Asos have a bridal selection for under 500 euros not sure what they cost in US dollars but they are lovely gowns.
