I’ve used buddy passes a TON ( JetBlue and Skywest ) , but I have a friend that may be able to offer Delta passes ( which could take us out of the country for honeymoon – we are flexible like that ) .
So …… how do they work ? Can they get us to Mexico or Latin America ?
Does anyone know ? I don’t want to quiz the friend who is offering.

you sign up and register it, your friend will know how to do this, she has to put you in the system, you tell her where you want to go. You pay taxes which is still very cheap
You show up at the airport, you will be the last to be called, if you get called you get in
there will be a board saying if you are cleared
if there’s none left you have to re-book yuor ticket for anoth er time or a destination to get there and wait again–yuor bags may have been on theflight though
I’ve been bumped off more frequently because they been reducing load
how do I know this–I used this for the entire longdistance relationship I had with my british Fiance, my sister is a flight attendant
whereever delta flies yuo can go
I’ve been to rome, paris, athens, london, wales, liverpool, barcelona, munich
the list is extensive you have to have your friend look up where to go or look up the website; I look at the map on their magazine and pick out a country; I have flown to europe for just $350 business
I fly business 95% of the time

Oh …….. I know how they work. Thanks for your fast reply! I’ve done about 50 buddy pass flights and have also been bumped ( but I call an hour before flying and get a cash ticket if odds don’t look good and I NEED to be somewhere ) .
I meant …. can Delta get us to Mexico or Latin America? We are flexible , but want to travel internationally to make things exotic. Roughly how much would the taxes be ?
Thanks again for your fast reply!
You were flying Britain to NYC, U.S.A ? That a long flight !

I fly on my aunt’s delta buddy passes quite frequently!
If I were you, I’d go to the delta website. See where the flights go, and what the carriers are – you can’t use a buddy pass if it’s a CODESHARE flight. It needs to be a delta plane.
With respect to latin america, as far as I know, Delta flys direct from Atlanta to Santiago, at the very least!

How much senority with Delta does your friend have? It makes a difference in your boarding order. Buddy passes are at the bottom of the list. You pay so much per mile and all taxes and airport fees. I rarely use them anymore as I have had trouble getting on. Not worth the hassle on your honeymoon. Delta does go to Mexico and LAtin AMerica. My sister’s a Delta Flight Attendant with 11 years with the company. It was easier to fly on a pass ten years ago than it is now.

yes that makes a difference on if you get bumped off

Most of the flights to Mexico and Latin America will leave from Atlanta and a few from JFK and LAX. On Saturdays, there are a few more flights added to/from Mexico and the Caribbean from other points in the US.
The buddy pass fare are based off some magical formula of so many cents per mile in addition to the taxes.
Which destinations you are hoping to get to/from?

I’ve used these a bit too, but get frustrated with them.

Thanks for the help everyone ! The place I’m DYING TO GO TO is Bali Indonesia. Does anyone know what airline could get us there on buddy passes ? We have so many friends that work for the airlines that we might be able to work that out later.
