Last May I graduated with my bachelors degree in early childhood education. I am currently on two sub lists for teaching at pubic elementary schools near me. However I have an urge to switch my career to teaching art.
During my sophmore year in college I almost switched my major to art education because of my love for art. However, I was advised by all of my family not to because of the lack of a job outlook. However, my dream ever since joining DECA in high school has always been to open up my own art studio before I die.
The reason why I really would like to open up my own art studio is because at age 6 I was enrolled in private art classes. I enjoyed the privite alone time to unwind and paint and draw to my hearts content. This is what I would like to provide. My old art teacher has since passed, but she used to offer the lessons out of her old garage and made it very comfortable. She would offer me tea, hot chocolate, cookies, and brownies while I worked. She also played very relaxing music such as Enya.
My only issue is I don’t know where to begin since I already have a bachelors degree. I would be willing to go back to a nearby public college. However, do you think I need another degree or just to take several classes? Also, what credentials would you require me to have to teach your child art lessons?
