Now let me preface this with saying, my FH and I make very little money and have to pay for the whole thing ourselves. We’ve only invitet about 75 people, but we really want to elope now. He always wanted to, but I wanted family. Now I have been crying everyday for the past week and our date is still five months away. This money thing is really getting to me and the only thing that matters is that we’re together. How do you go about canceling the wedding? We’ve already sent save the dates. Help! And to those of you that will say think smaller scale, we only have $300 saved from trying to save for 6 months.

you only sent Save-The-Date Cards, not the invitation, so i assume you have a venue but nothing else booked.
first you will have to cancel any booked vendors, you probably will lose your deposits.
then you will have to call your close friends and family to let them know you have a change of plan.
maybe you can keep that date of your wedding to have those 75 relatives over for a party at your house. do it pot luck to help you celebrate.

If this is what you are both wanting to do, I would recommend either calling everyone or sending out a postcard saying that the wedding will not take place as planned. You can send out a wedding announcement that can also act as the party invitation if you choose to have a reception at a later date.
