Hi Bees… my Fiance is going through an emotional time and I am trying my hardest to be supportive but I am so not good at finding the right words…
Long story short, his Dad was supposed to be his best man at our upcoming wedding in November. Yesterday he calls to let him know, there will be no way for him to be able to come to the wedding as his health is deteriorating.
He has poor kidneys due to some bad vaccines he was given many years ago in the military. He has already lost most of his hearing due to this and his kidneys have been slowly failing. he now is so bad that he will need a kidney transplant before the end of the year. His brother will be donating the kidney but due to the surgery and recovery time he will be unable to travel for 6-8 months. We live in FL while he resides in PA.
i know there is nothing we can do and of course his health is the most important, but Fiance is so sad. I hate to see him like this and have no idea what I can do or say to cheer him up.
Sorry so long… just needed to vent. Any advice or good thoughts would be appreciated.

@destiny1120: AWWW That is sad. I feel so sorry for your Fiance, but you’re sweet for trying to make it better for him.
Has he seen his dad recently? Is there anyway that you can plan a surprise trip to see his dad or get him to come to you before the surgery?
Edit: How about also finding a way for his dad to watch the wedding live?

I saw this done for a wedding on tv – but since his dad can’t make the wedding, I would make plans to be able to stream your ceremony live and have his dad watch it remotely.
I’m not a tech person, so don’t know how the best way to do this would be – but if I were you I would plan the whole thing and make all the arrangements & then suprise your Fiance with this idea, I’m sure he would LOVE it and really appreciate you being supportive and trying to make the best of a sad situation.

@AnnieAAA and PrncssDva – I was going to suggest the same thing! Skype is a good (free) program to have a live vid conference. Gmail also has a video chat. You just need to make sure your ceremony place has wireless. Or find someone with a super-smart phone.
OP – in the short term, I think the best way to cheer up your Fiance is to just get naked. Maybe my Fiance is very single-minded, but whenever he is bummed, I find getting naked always cheers him up!

@Rock Hugger: LOL
Thanks all! It is super sad… I love the idea of live streaming… I will start looking into that. We are going up north in July so I will make sure he gets to see his dad then… and after the surgery i’ll have him go up too and help out!
Thanks for the support! Bees are the best!
