As of right now, I have 5 bridesmaids, but none of them are the maid of honor! I just don’t know how to choose.
Maid#1 is my future sister in law. Wonderful girl and I love her, but since she is Fiance’s sister it doesn’t seem right to have her as Maid/Matron of Honor, considering my brothers are going to be groomsmen and the best man is my fiance’s friend, who is like a brother to me, but not quite the same.
Maid#2 is my cousin who is closest to me in age. We were always closest growing up but as adults she has drifted away, in the recent past I have made huge efforts to see her and it has felt like she has blown me off. I asked her to be a bridesmaid to hopefully bring us closer and let her know how important she is to me but I don’t know if she would be Maid/Matron of Honor for me.
Maid#3 is my former roommate, we were very close in college but now only see eachother sporadically because we live 7 hours apart. She is very dear to me but do I want her name on my marriage license if we end up drifting apart?
Maid#4 is a younger cousin who I have grown closer to in adulthood. But I don’t want to cause drama if I ask her to be Maid/Matron of Honor and not her sister.
Maid#5 is a friend I grew up with, but only became close to in the past 2-3 years because she is a bit younger than me. Of course age doesn’t matter now that we are adults but when we were kids we didn’t associate much, although looking back is fun now becuase we did a lot of the same things and compare our different perspctives.
Added to that only one girl lives anywhere near me, and 3 of them are planning their own weddings! So I don’t want to make anyone too busy.
I can always choose not to have a Maid/Matron of Honor but someone still has to sign the marriage license!
What do I do?
