Hi bees i have been having this internal dilema for about 6 months now Ive looked at i dont know how many dresses and still havnt been able to come to a decision…..The venue we’ve chosen is i chic city hotel and we will be having a civil ceremony with a black, white and red polka dot theme and this is tkaing place in october 2011.
The first dress i choose was a classic strapless a-line wedding dress which had a bit of beading, lace and ruching, its a lovely dress but it reminds me so much of different prom dresses ive had as the shape is a safe bet. Other dresses ive looked at have been fit and flare wedding dresses (which seam to be very popular at the moment) and ballgown style’s…but i just cant decide which style is best for my big day.
I think the main problem i have is unlike most bride’s i’d never dreamed of getting married so never had a clue about what i wanted from my wedding dress.
does anyone have any advice for me ladies.

Start trying on dresses… I was exactly like you! I looked and looked and didn’t know what I liked, or what I didn’t like, so I made an appointment at a salon and told the girl that was helping me that I wanted to look and feel pretty but I had no clue what I liked. She brought back different types of dresses, and we found one I loved. I waited to buy just in case, but went back this week and purchased…

You can start by making a list of the dresses you like and try to explain what you like about them. You can then show the same list to the bridal shops you visit (also bring some of the inspiration for the wedding itself, that might help them picture what the atmosphere will be like).
Another option is to find a seamstress / designer and get a custom made dress. It often is not as expensive as one would think (I was pleasantly suprised) and you can really work with the designer to get something you like and that fits you perfectly.
It’s not easy, so good luck!
