Is your friend the type that would comment on something if you told it as a story? Ex. if you told your friend a (fake) story about someone getting engaged in public, do you think she’d just say “oh, that’s nice” regardless of what she thought or is she the type of person to insert her thoughts and indicate whether she would like that or not unprompted? I feel like that tactic only really works if you don’t have to follow it up with “what do you think of that?” haha.

If this is the love of her life though, I would be willing to bet that your friend will love any proposal :).

If you’re out together one day you could happen to have an elaborate proposal video loaded on your phone. They’re always popping up on social media, so it wouldn’t seem unlikely that you’d run across one while browsing Facebook or something. Show it to your friend and say something like “omg that proposal is so crazy /elaborate/insert your own adjective. She might have something to say about how she would or wouldn’t like something like that. It would at least give you an idea.

penguinwapi:  LOL yeah, I’d be all like “OMG I was reading this thread on weddingbee today where some girl was complaining about her at-home proposal saying it wasn’t special enough. I told her she was cray cray bananas. What do you think?”

Yeah make up a story… “So I was at olive garden/the park/the aquarium/grocery store/whatever and I’m pretty sure I saw some guy proposing to his girlfriend.  I feel like proposals should be more private/more public/done with family around/whatever…”  See what she responds.
