Ummm… you really can’t. The only way to “dye” something white is to bleach it and bleach can really destroy most delicate fabrics.

Unfortunately sippylef is right, there is no such thing as a white dye unless you were to bleach the color out. 🙁 Maybe you could let a seamstress look at it and make a replica?

If you can’t use it as is, and if you got a really good deal on it, you can probably bleach it without a problem. I bleached a piece of belgian lace from about 1860 (I know! The horror!)

It had a mildew spot from being in our attic (my stupid dad…..) and I had to bleach it to try to save it. It is a huge piece of lace and very delicate. I poured about 3 cups of bleach in my washer, took out the agitator, stuffed the lace in a pillow case and let the whole thing soak for about a hour. Then I rinsed it and hung it up to dry in my shower. If a 150 year old piece of lace can make it, your bolero can too.
