- Wedding: March 2011
We are getting married in another state. We are marrying in a historic church and decorations are not allowed on the pews, no containers with liquid are allowed… basically nothing. I’m okay with that; the church is charming on its own.
The thing is, I don’t have the slightest idea how much to budget when it comes to flowers. We are having a VERY small wedding and will only need my bouquet, boutonierres (sp??) for Fiance, and my 2 sons, my brother, and for our daughter who will be flower girl, because of the church’s restrictions we are most likely going to have her hand out single-stemmed flowers instead of dropping petals. Going to double check with the church on that one though, because I’d prefer petals and we will have an aisle runner so it seems like it’d be easy to clean up.
I have NO issue with going to a supermarket or similar for flowers, as long as I can get something pretty. I am not picky as to what kind of flowers they are, long as they are in shades compatible with what we are wearing (colors are not decided but most likely pink/white/blue). I want a simple bouquet with ribbon wrapping the stems which I’m sure I can do myself (the ribbon). The only thing special I’d like is some ivy worked in there (for the symbolism it carries).
I have 8 months to go so I have actually considered some DIY paper flowers that I’d mix in with fresh…? Or something else alternative and cute.
I just need to find a ballpark for the flower budget. Am I wrong to think that this can be done tastefully but not expensively?
