I’m at a loss as to how I get my favors to the wedding. I asked the reception venue if I could ship directly to them, but they said they didn’t allow that since they didn’t want to be responsible for storing them until we got there. I’m in TN and we’re getting married in Las Vegas. I could carry them on the plane, but I have bubbles and wasn’t sure if they would allow that. I don’t have a ton of favors, but just enough to make them a pain to carry on board. Any suggestions?

You wouldn’t be able to bring them on since they’re liquid. I would just say package them up really well and put them in your luggage. I mean, bottles of shampoo and conditioner survive it, so I would think bottles of bubbles would be okay too? Just don’t pack anything else in the bag in case they don’t make it 😉

Pack them up securely in a box and take them with you as checked baggage.

- Wedding: April 2011 - Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii
@annabellemarie:for our Destination Wedding, I packed my favors into my checked-in suitcase and all was good when we arrived. For the rest of our decor stuff, I shipped these to my wedding coordinator’s place and the home of a good friend who lived on the island, which was a HUGE help. Good luck! I love las Vegas weddings!

Agreed! Worst comes to worst, they spill and you either get new favors there or do without. Good luck!

Assuming that you will have transportation when you get there, ship them via USPS, Fedex or UPS. Fedex and UPS have stores locations that you can utilize to pick up a package at one of their locations. With the airlines charging so much in baggage fees, we are actually shipping our luggage to our venue rather than taking them with me. Since we are arriving early, we can pick it up ourselves. It was way cheaper and easier than paying baggage fees. You can easily pack up your box of favors, ship them to a facility, pick them up, the best part is that you will get a confirmation of their arrival.
To me shipping is more secure than having TSA rifle through my things or being mishandled by luggage handlers. Also, it may get lost and not show up! Airlines don’t have good insurance, and TSA does not take responsibility for anything. Shipping services will ship, with insurance. This is why for my wedding, I am even having my dress shipped. I refuse to lug it around. I’ve been shipping vacation luggage since the rule about 3oz, now baggage fees, and overlimit charges.

Make sure if you pack them that you wrap a garbage bag or two around the box. That way if the containers break your clothes are protected. My best friend learned this on her way back from Cyprus with six bottles of red wine–only 4 made it.
