KristenGotMarried:  im wondering what the benefit of doing the second part is when you will already state ” 1 seat has been reserved in your name” Just curious , I’m having the same concerns

TechKitten:  Address the invitation to that individual only. “Mr. John Smith” or “Miss Jane Doe”. On the RSVP card, make sure you have a place where all names can be listed. We have two ways of getting a number count– names on RSVPs and the dinner they’ve chosen.

If you get anything other than their name, call them up and say “there must have been a misunderstanding, but unfortunately we can’t extend a plus one to you for the wedding. We hope you understand.” Don’t need to explain why. Just say you can’t. If they ask why, then say that there’s a limit on guests who can attend.
