I did all of above lol. I called my mom, texted my friends and put up a pic of the ring with a caption for all the distant family members I have there. Everyone is far away so it was easier to do things that way.

I was gchatting with a friend as it happened, so that took care of her… lol
I called my family immediately, followed by the bestie, left an inconspicuous vm for two close friends- all casual in the beginning, then oh yeah, we’re engaged!.
Individual text and emails to 2nd tier friends- this actually caused an issue- I told one friend Z and she told X even though I hadn’t told X yet, instead of saying, hey I spilled the beans to X, they pretended that nothing happened, so silly!
For the remainder, I posted on fb (I never post on fb).

We called the important people on our life, parents, grandparents and closer friends.
A week or two later we made it facebook official, we just wanted to make sure that certain people heard it directly from us first.

I want to share the best piece of advice I got before my Fiance proposed, and it’s from one of my best friends and bridesmaid, who is also engaged: Don’t be in such a rush to tell everyone. If you’re at dinner, finish your dinner. Order dessert. Have another glass of wine. Let this be the only time you’ll ever have where its just the two of you that know. It’s unbelievably special.
I took this advice when my Fiance proposed. We finished our walk, we had lunch, and then called my parents, and our close friends. We waited until the next day to tell his mom, since she’s local to us, and my family/close friends arent. It was so wonderful, felling like you had the most amazing secret, and no one knew – just the two of us. I was walking around with a stupid grin on my face, and it was just awesome.
I let other friends (good ones, but not as close) know via text. Everyone else got the FB notifcation.

@BlondeBee: The most sage advice I’ve heard. I am beginning to work myself into a little panic as of late because I think he will ask for my hand soon. I need to just calm down and think about everything as it comes.
