So I took my engagement photos yesterday, everything was perfect beside the MUA they provided to me….. my package including free MUA service from them and dress rental. I love the dresses and their skill…….. however, when I was at their studio yesterday, I was shock to see that wasn’t the MUA they told me about …. so I thought, oh well, maybe engagement photo is different? No biggie…
I bought a pair of shu umera lashes because I thought a professional MUA can handle them… but no,the MUA cut it too short….. as she progress, I can tell she try real hard but it just not outstanding. I mean the makeup and hair are not ugly, just very average. When I met with my Maid/Matron of Honor later the day, she was shock too. She said what’s the different between my everyday makeup and their makeup….
Now, I asked them about makeup trial before, and they said it won’t happen 3 -4 weeks before my big day. IF they fail me, it would be too late for me to find someone else…
I’m going to push them to let me have my make up trial in May….and if they fail me, I will book MU trial with other MUA. Since, this is a common friends, I don’t want to be too harsh but my Maid/Matron of Honor has a point, just tell them nothing but the truth.
How do I tell them that their MUA does not deliver what I expected and I want to give the designated MUA a chance? without appearring to be too high maintenance??

gpiglet: I think you need to find your own hair/makeup artist. I have done trials for weddings up-to 6 months BEFORE the wedding, so you can definitely find hair/mua that will do the same. If you wait until 3 weeks before the wedding and are unhappy with the results you will not have time to find someone else. I would suggest finding someone now and just letting your friend/the photographer know that you found another hair/mua that you love and will be going with instead of the one being provided and just leave it at that. That way you’re happy and not worried you will be hating it. While it might be nice to not be paying for one since it is “free” it is definitely worth it to spend extra and make sure you LOVE your look. I had my hair/mu trial about 2 months before the wedding.

Good MUA are booked solid that close to a wedding! You need to find someone else who can do your trial soon! Good luck! 🙂

So the assistant got back to me on email, apparently the MUA that they assigned to me is pregnant right now, so they are not sure if she can do my MU on my big day or even my trial!!!
That explain why they have someone else do it for me…. but I wish they would have told me earlier instead of me finding out this way. I would have voice out louder but the owner is my common friends and they throw in extra stuff fo rme, so I don’t want to appear to be too b*tchy
I contact the MUA that I like and thanks god she is still available and her next trial appointment would be end of june…. I hope it will be resolve soon…
