baileybagels :  sweet bee have you tried rings on in person? I have seen you post about so many cuts… pear, asscher, cushion, marquise… Your best bet is to grab a girl friend and try on rings at a store and see what looks best on your hand. My sister brought me to the jewler where she and her DH got their rings and it was such a fun experience.

newbeegirl :  thanks! It’s around .80~ on my size 8 finger lol I was browsing Etsy one day and happened to come across it. Told my hubs that I had to have it. The seller was random and not a seller of antique/vintage jewlery normally but had this piece and had it checked by GIA to verify its authenticity. I lucked out with a rando but usually only pursue graded stones with papers and videos and the like. Sometimes you take a chance and it all works out. I especially keep my eye on vintage/antique bezel pieces that “look their age” so to speak because usually those pieces are authentic because it’s harder to dismantle a bezel setting. Good thing I love them and prefer that type of setting lol

I have people notice mine is cut different to the modern round brilliant. But I work with diamonds and most are modern cuts. It’s just more popular. I actually rescued my diamond from being re cut into a modern round. I think I might re set her though. This setting just doesn’t do her justice. I absolutely love old cut stones. I have a big old mine cut moissanite ring that I absolutely adore too and they perform very similar to old diamonds

EmeleeRose :  thanks! It’s from Tianyu in China. 8.5mm GH color. I’m gonna do a generic solitaire for now (I have the setting already), but long term an looking at a double claw prong cathedral setting.

dracarys :  thank you for the info!! I love solitaires!! I’m thinking of resetting mine with 6 prongs. I second the double claw prongs!! It will look fabulous. Cannot wait to see that!

i definitely do not regret my vintage ring! The diamonds are from the very early 1900s. I’ve had comments about how pretty and unique it is, but nothing bad 🙂

Notexactly the same but I have an antique cut stone. People marvel at it IRL. Probably because they’ve never seen one! Besides online mine is the first one I’ve seen too.

I dont think people realize the differences in types of cut between Round Brilliant / OEC and to some extent OMC. They see a sparkly white stone. I have an OMC from JbG that people notice and remark on, but I don’t think they’re noticing the type of cut itself as much as the light reflection. My Round Brilliant gets about the same amount of comments. Mine is a pretty round OMC, some are much more square. I don’t know why this site posts the photo upside down lol.
