@FutureMrsJefferson: Personally, I was pretty much completely involved with the ring shopping. Fiance had no clue what to do and he has anxiety issues – so when he gets stressed he stops functioning well. I offered to help as a way of lessening the stress and it worked well for us. He wound up making the final decision himself, but he chose the one that we both loved the most; he said my face lit up when I tried it on in the store (which never happens to me with jewelry).

I knew becasue we had to put it on our renters insurance and we went to the store and picked it up together (it was in a box within a box within a bag so I had no clue what it looked like) but we did go and pick it up so I knew he had the ring 🙂

@FutureMrsJefferson: probably a little easier if you live together. We don’t live together yet, so I had no idea when he bought the ring. It was a fun story to listen to his ring buying journey after the proposal; I still ask him questions about it. However, in retrospect once we became engaged I figured out there was one time when I was at his place when I should have been clued in on it- I was putting something away in his closet; I go in it all the time. But that particular day he was very “protective” of the closet. It was around the holidays so I figured it could be unwrapped gifts… Or MAYBE a ring?

We ordered it together. 🙂

He texted me right before ordering it to confirm ring size AGAIN! Then he texted me a picture of the ring box once it arrived, because he was so excited and can never keep a secret when it’s from him to me.
The proposal was a secret though, so that was very nice 🙂

I was there when he ordered the ring online. I also was the one who was home when it came from UPS…not for lack of trying on his part, he was home alllll day waiting for it then he leaves to go to class and ding-dong the doorbell rings! Lol he was really disappointed, poor guy. He had the ring for about two months before he proposed last Sunday!

“Technically” a Proposal happens when One Person “proposes the IDEA of Marriage” and the Other Person accepts. That is it, that is all.
For some people that happens with a ring… for others before or after a ring is purchased… and some folks don’t have an ERing at all (it is not a requirement of being Engaged)
In my case, Mr TTR proposed “sans Ring” and then we went out shopping together afterwards.
Hope this helps,

lol thanks for asking this question because I always wondered. I had NO CLUE he ordered the ring. He is usually really bad with secrets. Of course, he only held onto it for three days, but still!

@FutureMrsJefferson: My SO told me…not a very good secret keeper lol especially when he is excited

- Wedding: July 2014 - Prague
My Fiance literally insisted that I choose my own ring, so I was there when it was purchased.

We bought it together a week or so after he actually proposed! So, best of both worlds- surprise proposal (not that I didn’t suspect) and ring shopping together was way fun! I feel lucky I got to enjoy ring shopping and not be anxious or miss out on it.

He told me when it was delivered to his house. I actually wrote a whole thread about him not being able to keep a secret.

Because I was the one who ordered them and organized their shipping lol. The then SO works full time whereas I’m usually home since I don’t like going into uni to work so it made sense that it’d get ship to me because I would be there to sign for them.

@FutureMrsJefferson: I picked my ring so that’s how I knew.

We went to the jeweler and picked it out together, but the proposal will be a surprise for me.
