I address them by their first names now so probably will stick with that after I marry Fiance.

I would much rather address them by their first names. They used to address themselves as Mr. and Mrs. So-and-so when they’d talk about each other in front of me. Now, they call themselves Mom S and Dad S (first initial of last name). This is what my FI’s sister-in-law came up with when they told her that she could call them “Mom and Dad” if she wanted. She didn’t feel comfortable with that, so she came up with this. I don’t feel comfortable calling them by those names, but I don’t know if the first name will fly. So, it’s still “Mr. and Mrs.” until I hear otherwise.

Another reason I’m looking forward to kids…I can then just use “Grandma and Grandpa”!

Usually I don’t say their names, but when I do it’s their first names.  When I’m talking to DH I say “your dad” rather than their names though.  DH is the same way with my parents.  Neither of us would ever call the inlaws mom or dad since we have our own parents.

you should add another option to the poll, ‘Mom LastName and Dad Lastname’. right now I mostly use avoidance 🙂 but that is what I plan to go with after the wedding next month.

Their first names for sure. Not comfortable enough nor will I ever think I will be. Even my FI’s sister’s husband calls them by their first name and they’ve been married for about 10 years now.

it is crazy to me how many people are soo comfortable with first names! both my Fiance and  i come from families where it would be considered horribly, horribly offensive to use first names. it just doesn’t happen!

i wanted to vote for more than one.. when we eventually get married i plan to call her “Ma” cos thats what he calls her.. but for now, I kinda just avoid calling her, cos i think its a bit disrespectful to call her by her first name

First names, but it took me awhile before I’d call them anything at all. 😉

Mom and Dad.  They accepted a pregnant teenaged girlfriend as their own, didn’t shun me or make me feel bad or stupid or irresponsible and deserve the titles since they’re absolutely amazing people!

I can’t even think of calling them Mom and Dad because they aren’t the parents who raised me. FI’s mom died when he was 13 and his dad remarried a few years later. I call his step-mom by her first name because that’s what Fiance calls her. I can’t bring myself to call FI’s dad anything though, it feels too weird haha, hopefully that will change soon (:

My FI’s mom asked me to call her by her first name.  FI’s dad is completely against that and wants me to continue calling him Mr. S.  He thinks calling them by their first names is disrespectful, while she thinks he’s nuts to want me to call him Mr.  So it’s a bit awkward with her insisting her first name and him insisting on Mr.  I just try to avoid calling them anything. =P
