I was lying awake last night (because I was silly and gave in to my craving to drink a cup of coffee an hour before bed), and starting thinking about how other couples sleep when they are in the same bed.
My Fiance and I sleep on opposite sides of the bed. I can’t sleep if I’m cuddled up with him, and I’m not a great sleeper on a good night so my tossing would only wake him up.
If I missed anything in the poll, let me know and I’ll edit it in 🙂

We fall asleep cuddling, but I guess at some point it just gets too warm so we move apart. I don’t sleep well if my Fiance isn’t there though.

We cuddle until we are almost asleep, then roll over and go to sleep (although I toss and turn for a while first) but usually we are touching in some way, either legs or backs

@Jacqui90: We do the exact same thing. We usually cuddle until we are almost asleep, then he rolls over but usually our backs or legs are still touching. If I get cold in the middle of the night, I snuggle up to him because he’s like a living space heater!
We often cuddle in the morning before the alarm goes off too.

We are a combo of stay on your side & touching in some way. We rarely cuddle- we like to just sleep how we’re comfortable, but usually try to touch in some way.

We fall asleep on opposite sides, but end up right next to each other during the night. 🙂

I voted for cuddling then moving apart…but that is only half right. I work the overnight shift, and he works normal hours. We sleep together MAYBE 2 nights a week. Unless on holiday or whatever.

We cuddle and pretty much cuddle in some way all night. The furthest we ever are from cuddling is if our backs are pressed against each other’s. I like to have some sort of pressure on me when I sleep (if Fiance isn’t there I put pillows on either side of me, lol). He can’t sleep unless we’re cuddled up so it just works out this way.

Normally we sleep apart from each other (he likes facing the door of the bedroom; says it is a ‘man thing’). I like curling up against the wall. Of course we cuddle and kiss etc before we sleep, and one of us will spoon the other for a bit. But then we sleep facing away from each other.
Sometimes in the night I think he cuddles me in his sleep and he just ends up squishing me against the wall (which is not comfortable; he is 6’1 and almost double my weight hahaha). Then again, sometimes I do the same to him and almost push him off the bed lol.

We sleep in separate twin beds right now because we haven’t saved up for a larger bed yet. When we do sleep in the same bed we cuddle for a bit then move apart to sleep, and don’t touch while sleeping. I’d love to be able to cuddle and sleep at the same time, but Fiance twitches in his sleep and always falls asleep first which keeps me from falling alseep if we are touching. Once I do fall asleep I’m apparently a vicious kicker who leaves Fiance with bruised shins if he’s too close.

On weekends, we usually fall asleep in some form of spooning and end up sleeping touching in some form.
On weekdays, I go to bed about an hour before him as I get up way earlier for work, so he rolls into bed later and sometimes will cuddle, sometimes will pass out.

We usually fall asleep while cuddling, but eventually we’ll move apart. My Fiance is a light sleeper and I’m a heavy sleeper, so he usually ends up rolling me over to get some room to sleep. Even if we’re not cuddling, I have trouble falling asleep without him around.

@Eckle: My Fiance twitches while he is falling asleep! And if we are touching, it is the arm or leg that is touching me that always spasms. So creepy, and keeps me from falling asleep! Haha

We do some pre-sleep cuddling, and then usually fall asleep holding hands. I would love to fall asleep in his arms, but he’s like a heat generating machine and I just get way too hot sleeping too close to him. Fiance is also a terrible duvet thief, I seriously used to get so mad at him about it. Sleep is precious to me and there’s nothing that will put me in a worse mood than shivering throughout the night because he’s rolled himself up into BOTH of our duvets.

I think it would be helpful to have people comment how long they have been sleeping in the same bed – lol.
We USED to cuddle all night and wake up all tangled together. As you are together longer most people become more practical – so now we cuddle for a little while then give eachother space (but usually remain touching somehow…)
