I spent a lot of time today looking up safe ways to clean jewelry at home. This is the first time I’ve cleaned my ring, so naturally I was nervous.
I finally decided to clean my rings with Aveeno Baby Wash, lukewarm water, and a very soft toothbrush. I let them soak in the warm water with the Aveeno for about 10 minutes and then lightly brushed them off with the toothbrush. After that I let them soak in clean warm water for about 20 minutes. I took them out, rinsed them off, and let them dry on a paper towel.
Wow! My rings are seriously sparkly. One of them is my great-grandmother’s engagement ring, and I’ve never seen it shine like this! Both of them are white gold with diamons.
So, my question is: What do you do to make your beauties sparkle and stand out? How often do you clean them?

I use a jewelry spray and toothpick for getting in the nooks and crannies, or more recently I’ve been using an ultrasonic cleaner.

I soak my ring in hot soapy water (with Dawn dish soap) for maybe 20 minutes or so. Then I take it out and gently scrub it with a soft bristled toothbrush and rinse. I dry it with a microfiber cloth. Very sparkly 🙂

Toothbrush and Dawn soap for the win!

I was going to use dish soap, but I have the “hand renewal” stuff and I wasn’t sure if that would leave a film. I picked the Aveeno because it was the only plain soap I have. Lol

I’m obsessed with my ultrasonic cleaner.

I just have the cleaner from the jeweler. And I get them to steam clean it every so often. But I don’t clean my rings nearly as much as I should.

my ring is white gold with diamonds And this is how i clean it. I boil about a cup of water, put It in a glass bowl (I like to use a white one so I can see all the crap that comes off lol) with a teaspoon of baking soda and a tiny piece of tin foil… I drop all my jewelry in there (silver and gold )and let it sit til the water cools a bit. All the gunk comes right off and its super shiny!

I read something today about putting rings in boiling water but I didn’t want to try it unless I knew it wouldn’t hurt my pretty. Lol I’m still overly protective of my ring, I’ve only had it for 3 weeks.

I also use an extra soft toothbrush, but I use my regular dish soap or hand soap (both by Seventh Generation , so they’re pretty gentle). I clean it whenever I notice that it’s not as sparkly – probably every 2-4 months.

I either clean mine with a toothbrush and dish soap or wait 6 months and get it cleaned at the jewelers when they inspect my ring.

I bought the ultrasonic cleaner that Kay sells and I love it! I had also bought one from Amazon but it knocked a diamond out when I used it. I will also sometimes use a toothbrush on it when I am in the bath.

I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I run it through a few times once a week.

Hot water, 2tsp Dawn soap, 4-5 sprays Windex in my ultrasonic at least once a week. And a dip and brush in jewelry cleaner in between ultrasonic baths.

I clean mine with Sunshine Products jewelry cleaner. It’s completely organic and I can use it on any costume jewelry I have! I absolutely love how well it works! I’ve never seen my jewelry sparkle as much as it does after I clean with a little bit of this stuff!
