I really want my bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmens’ ties to match. Is that possible without going the David’s Bridal/Mens Wearhouse route? I’m not impressed with David’s selection of Fall colors. Specifically I’m looking for antique golds, coppers, or burnt oranges.

Find the bridesmaids dresses of your chosce first, since that will be the hardest.
There are many websites to buy the matching or coordinating ties for the men:

Thanks for the tip. But how can I ensure that the ties are the exact same color and material (or close enough that they’ll look identical in pictures) if I’m buying them online?

You can try the paint swatch route. Using color samples like paint swatches allows your wedding party to have a physical sample of the colors you are using without getting a swatch of the actual fabric. For mens ties, I would just hit the stores. Department stores have so many options for men’s ties, you can find just about anything. But I would go Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses first, you have less options there. Are you looking for just ties or vests too? If you want just ties, then you have a lot of options. If you want vests too, then you need to go through a tux rental type place. Vests are limited in the off-the-rack variety.

The paint chip idea is great! The groom will probably have an ivory vest/tie, but the groomsmen will only have ties so that could work. I’m just not sure I’ve seen much in the way of solid color silk/satin/tafetta ties in local department stores, though. Hmmm. I guess we’ll have to investigate this weekend….
