So school is pretty much over for the winter and suddenly I find myself with nothing to do and now I’m realizing I’m hungry all the time. I’m not working and I would love to clean the house, but if I throw something out without showing my mom first she gets really freaked out (Don’t worry- she usually says it’s fine but she has a lot of her work stuff all over the place so I never know what’s trash and what’s not).
I’ve cleaned my room, my kids room, the bathroom, cleaning the kitchen makes me hungrier… I have no more homework and no need to study for my finals yet (they’re super easy) and so BORED! So I’m eating, constantly! No bueno!
So far today I’ve had two eggs, a cup of oatmeal, a fruit bowl consisting on berries, pineapple and a banana, a cup and a half of coffee, and a lean cuisine. I mean looking at it, at least I chose semi-healthy stuff to eat, but it’s getting annoying. I even plan on a baked potato soon.
So tell me what else YOU do to combat this bored eating! I’m going crazy!

That doesn’t sound like much–everything mentioned prior to the lean cuisine sounds like a typical amount I’d eat just for breakfast. Maybe it SEEMS like you’re eating more that you actually have.

Looks like you’ve eaten ~700 calories, that isn’t much. I wouldn’t be concerned.

Haha, yeah, I’m with others in thinking you’re fine :).
But I’m terrible about bored eating! I’ve started always keeping water and gum at my desk at work. It gives me something to do without adding tons of calories.
At home, I try to either be cleaning (so…no eating, because eww), or playing video games. That keeps my hands busy. If I’m just surfing the internet, I go back to the water/gum thing.

@Stranger516: LOL Yes, I’ve been on here ALL MORNING/AFTERNOON! <3 the Bee.
@lawbride88: Oh really? Maybe you’re right, I’m not used to having any *time* to eat, so maybe I am psyching myself out.
@jo.lee: @Cady: I really should get myself into some real video games. I’ve also been playing Sims Social on FB all day and it’s only serving to frustrate me. There’s not much you can do on there. Maybe it’s time to re-install the real Sims game.

I suffer from bored eating too, I work from home 4 days a week so its easy to hit the snacks! I would suggest eating more protein to keep you fuller longer. Also, increasing your water intake helps a lot!

I *try* to grab a bag of carrots or something similar to munch on. Somedays… I just have to eat and eat and eat (stress, anxiety, whatever)… and I really try to make it healthier food.

@Omgbunnies: You’re doing better than me, so far I’ve had a blondie, two cans of soda, 3 handfuls of cheezits and chili cheese fries. It’s one of my “I want to eat what I want to eat” days.

@LibraryBlondie: +1, and I drink lots of herbal tea since it tastes like something and is hot so it really keeps my mouth busy when I don’t feel like water

Water, gum, going for a walk, going shopping. Also, writing down what I eat is good because it makes me think before putting that cookie in my mouth- “Do I really want to have to write that down?” Keeps me honest, mostly…
