Eat when you’re hungry, stop eating when you’re no longer hungry (not when you’re full). Learn to listen to your body; you don’t have to clear your plate or eat all of something (unless you want to!). Eat breakfast. Eat less, but eat more often. I typically eat breakfast, a snack, lunch, another snack, then dinner.

drink a TON of water…I hate water. So I would make a pitcher of fresh lemonade, water + fresh squeezed lemon juice + stevia (to sweeten)…it would help to curb my appetite! Also there are a ton of low calorie snack options out there (ie: 100 calorie pop secret mini bags)…you can also check out some lower calorie options/recipes from hungrygirl.com

Tracking in MyFitnessPal!  Even if I go a little over, knowing that I have to track every bite of food I take really helps me to reign it in.

the little things add up. Like you said you have to choose to not have the ice cream and to avoid starbucks. But not only that, what are you meals like? Cook lighter, eat more veggies, minimize processed carbs/grains and sugar as much as you can. Skip the rice, pasta, bread etc.

If you’re anything like me or my brother, the part of your brain that tells you you’re full is completely broken. No offense @vorpalette but I know a lot of people just don’t phycially feel full, myself included.  Stopping when full is really difficult when you physically cannot feel full.   I know people say to eat slowly and wait 30 minutes for “fullness” to kick in, but for me waiting 30 minutes makes me hungrier and my stomach will start growling, no joke, even if it’s just had a burger and fries. I can out eat my fiance, finish up his food, and my stomach can still keep growling for more food.  

There are two things I have done that works for me that you can try:

1) This first one is going to sound horrible.  Before eating any meal or snack, eat 2 crowns of broccoli. (I did 3 before each meal, but I doubt many people have the same black hole of a stomahc I do)  It has to be the same veggie prepared the exact same way. Then drink a glass of water.  Then, you can eat whatever the heck you want.  The idea is that there is physically no room to eat much. This worked because whenever I had the desire to eat, the idea of eating that mountian of brocolli just turned me off.  Whcih then brings me to step 2.

2) I ask myself, what would a normal person eat.  A normal person woudl nto eat an entire large pizza in one sitting.  So I’ll have 2 or 3 slices.  If i can’t stop and want another slice, I need to go through that mountain of broccoli first.  Yes, I’ve done this and it doesnt always work.  I have 2 or 3 slices, 3 crowns of boiled broccoli, and then 2 more slice of pizza.  BUT, eventually, i get so sick of the taste of broccoli, I would rather have that feel hungry in my stomach than eat more broccoli.  

It’s quite sad what I do to make myself not overeat, but I just need to put obstacles in front of food.

@SarahSmilesDec28:  I just started using that its awesome.  I would recommend it.  Ive found too if you allow yourself a bite or two of ice cream youll get your fix and wont crave it.

Mmmm Starbucks. As much as it sucks, I would skip the Starbucks except for rare occasions. You don’t say what you order, but if it’s anything other than coffee with a little cream, it’s probably not a splurge you want daily. You could try their teas unsweetened–I love passion fruit tea.

There are lots of lower calorie options at starbucks.  Try a skinny version of one of their drinks (vanilla, caramel and cinnamon dolce are some), it’s only 90 calories for a tall.  Or get a frappachino light instead of a regular frappachino.  Or sometimes I’ll get an iced coffee without the sweetener and put some splenda in it instead or use a sugar free syrup.

Ummm. I don’t. I am very lucky to have good genes or I would probably be massively fat. 

But if I buy junk food, I eat it. So I try not to buy it!
