@MissCountryGirl727:  I eat cake, and chew my cuticles.  I wish excercise was more helpful, or that I craved celery instead of cake.  se la vie.

I exercise a lot and it helps me! What about yoga or reading?

@MissCountryGirl727:  I usually try not to let things get to me. Then I feel overwhelmed, and have a breakdown on the phone to my manager. That really happened. She was very good though, she travelled down to see me within a couple of days to see what we could sort out to ease some of the extreme pressure I’m facing. Sometimes to ease some of that stress, you need to identify exactly what’s causing it, and what can be done to make the work situation more manageable. I came to find out that the main cause of my stress was never my responsibility to begin with. I’ve always been afraid to ask for help, I figured I could manage my work on my own, and wanted to seem like I had it all together. There is no shame in asking for help when you need it. We’ve worked out solutions at my work, and as a result, I feel less overwhelmed. Having a breakdown isn’t my style, but everything just got too much!

I exercise a lot. I typically end up losing a lot of weight when I’m stressed because I take out my aggression through working out. As opposed to most people, I also actually completely lose my appetite when I’m stressed. It sounds nice, but I end up looking kinda sickly.

Aww, I’m sorry you’re stressed over work, plus the wedding… You’re not alone though.  Good for you for working on quitting smoking and relieving your stress!  Though I have to admit, if you are super-stressed and just need a cigarette, eh, just have one.  Some of my favorite ways to relieve stress:

-Talk to my mom or a good friend (someone who is a good listener and nonjudgmental)

-Giving myself a mani/pedi, or going to the salon and getting one

-Challenging myself with a new workout

-Playing with my dogs

-Cooking

-Buying makeup (none of the body-related stress of clothing shopping)

-A little booze, if I’m really stressed!

It sounds dumb, but I have a go-to list of things that make me happy (I’ve been through a lot of stress in the past couple of years).  Things like hanging out at the beach, the smell of lilacs, buying fresh flowers for the house, good magazines, shopping for makeup, hiking with my daughters, eating lunch outside at a good restaurant, taking photographs, writing, organizing things, etc etc.  I make sure to incorporate them into my day when I’m really stressed.

Full disclosure: I take benzodiazepenes for anxiety, so there’s that as well.

I take a lot of baths. I spend a lot on good salts and bubblebath, and read trashy celeb magazines. Sometimes I include a glass of wine 😉

Also, playing with pets is a huge stress reliever for me, if you have any. Or take a trip down to your local shelter every now and again. Puppies always put me in a good mood!!

Oh i also love researching good recipes and baking or cooking something extra indulgent
