My SO and I are going away this weekend and we are trying to pack really lightly since we are taking the train and will have to carry everything we bring. The place we are going is in Connecticut, and it’s a rather upscale seaside town. I was just going to bring a couple of sundresses and flip flops and didn’t really want to bring jeans if I didn’t have to because it’ll be heavier, and then I have to bring tops, undershirts, etc.
It just seems like everywhere I go, everyone is in jeans and they always ask me why I’m so dressed up. I’m just more comfortable in a dress when it’s so humid and sticky outside, and if we go someplace nice for dinner, I don’t want to be underdressed.
Does anyone else have this argument with themselves when they pack or is it just me?

Unless I’m camping I usually dress nicer on vacation because we never know if we are going to stop somewhere nice to eat or whatnot. Plus then I have a cute outfit on in all the vacation pictures. 😉

@MapleMoose: Plus then I have a cute outfit on in all the vacation pictures. 😉
That’s another reason why I want to look nice! 🙂

I live in sundresses and light skirts during the spring/summer! They’re great for packing for a short weekend too since you can dress them up or down. (And like you I’d much rather be overdressed than underdressed!)

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice: It’s not just you! Lol. And I pretty much always dress nice too and get questioned because of it.
I go back and forth when it comes to what I want to wear and what I might need to wear. It gets to the point where I pretty much just say F$%# it and throw a bunch of stuff in the bag.
I think the sundresses are a great idea. :]

I seriously can’t put on anything other than dresses in the summer. I feel like I’m dying when I wear tight stuff and it’s hot. Even shorts bother me! lol

See – I’m your total opposite. I never wear dresses (even sundresses) unless I have to and on vacation, I want to be much more comfortable than that.
I’m definitely a jeans/shorts and flipflops/tennis shoes kind of gal!
