How about using a tinted moisturizer so you have light coverage but it’s quick and easy?

I HATE wearing makeup on my face. To me, foundation/blush/eyeshadow are the worst. I only wear eyeshadow on special occasions and I HATE foundation so I never wear it.

As for my daily routine, I only put makeup on my eyes – I use Cover Girl stick concealer around my eyes (In addition to concealing darkness, I think it helps hydrate them, so it feels very soothing to put on). Then I put some eyeliner on my top lids (I’m a sucker for that) and some mascara. That’s all I ever wear. My Fiance constantly tells me that he loves how I do my makeup, because I still look like me, but a bit fresher.

ETA: I just read your latest post about hating eye makeup, nevermind! Though you say you have oily skin… I think wearing makeup on the rest of your face might have some sort of affect on it. I had my makeup trial today and the artist commented on how I have really nice, clear skin. I swear that (besides daily SPF moisturizer) it’s because I never put anything on it (not even when I was a teenager).

Well as a freelance makeup artist, I obviously love makeup. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love days of waking up and going bare face for errands, etc. There are a lot of lighter options out there such as BB creams by Smashbox, Clinique, Too Faced, and Boscia that incorporate skin care into light and EASY coverage. Its pretty much fool proof. The other options are powders or tinted moisturizers (as stated above). Tinted moisturizers are similar to BB cream but with less skin care and less coverage. Still great and almost all come with an SPF. Good luck!

@Keylime Pie:  Ah, well when I get zits I just use the Cover Girl stick concealer on them. It works like a charm and it still leaves the rest of my face free of foundation.

@Keylime Pie:  I am 20 and have worn makeup probably less than 10 times in my life. Well, unless you count theatre makeup, haha. I’m starting to get into it because I’m sick of looking 15 (sounds like you can relate) but I only wear a very little amount- foundation and blush, sometimes eyeshadow and mascara. I think simple can be really great. And I certainly don’t wear it everywhere- if I don’t have time I just don’t wear any, it doesn’t bother me.

Maybe it would help to think about why you wear makeup. You mentioned acne… can you find a treatment to help it? There are creams and gels you can use, or even pills to clear up your face. As far as looking older, I guess I’m just used to people assuming I’m young. I figure someday I’ll appreciate it, haha. So maybe try to think of it that way 🙂

What makes you most self conscious? Taking care of your skin.. ie improving texture, clarity, or whatever the reason may be to wear makeup can allow you to be makeup free so maybe transition into amping up your skin care routine or if being completely makeup free isn’t possible, try investing in products that are multi purposed to save time in the morning. IE a cream liner that can be smudge as a shadow and liner.

I love makeup. I also hate the production that goes into it but honestly, come mid-day I’m so regretful when I have to look in the mirror at work and shudder because I couldn’t be bothered to put in some extra time. It’s so worth it to me.

As for concealer, if you’re having a hard time with finding the right shades… I match a lot of deeper olive tones to Smashbox or Nars.
