I got an ad in my email today and it got me thinking. My mom’s really particular about me wearing real jewelry on my big day as opposed to imitation stuff. She’s buying me a diamond stud necklace as a gift. But for earrings I want big dangly ones and obviously can’t afford the real thing. Turns out I can rent a 2ct diamond pair for the purchase price of a CZ one. Has anyone done this, and do you think it’s a good idea?

I’ve never done this, but I think it’s a good idea! Have you been to http://www.bagborroworsteal.com? They not only have purses, they have jewelry too. I’m actually considering it, just for fun 🙂
Spaganya: I didn’t even think of that!

I haven’t done it, but I think it’s a great idea.

If it’s good-quality jewelry, I think this is a great idea. Nothing sparkles or has the intensity of real diamonds and gemstones. You’ll feel special on your big day and the cameras will catch the proof of your jewelry’s beauty. Most people aren’t going to wear really elaborate CZ jewelry again anyway, so I think renting is a great idea. I plan to do it.

Its pretty easy to rent diamond jewelry nowadays. Have any of you ladies seen the Adorn Brides website? You can rent diamond earrings for like $100 for the entire weekend.

I thought about doing this too. I think its a good idea, you’ll feel so much more like a princess with the ‘real’ stuff. Just make sure you read all of the small print and take extra special care of the jewelry… can’t imagine being sacked with a bill if something were to go wrong!

I love the idea. I don’t know when else we’d get to wear real, expensive jewelry like that!

@lilyfaith – Totally!!! When else do you get to diva out like that?

I think it’s a great idea and would totally go for it

Adornbrides.com is the bomb!! All gorgeous jewelry, much of it for reasonable prices.

Thanks ladies. Adornbrides is who I got the email from, glad to know they have a good reputation. I think I’ll go ahead and order some gorgeous chandelier earrings this weekend.
@jennifer_espos : I’ll have to read the smallprint again like you said, but if I remember correctly part of the rental charge covers insurance. If it gets lost etc, the insurance covers the cost, but the renter has to pay about a 30% deductible.

I cant imagine paying the amount of money for the wedding and my attire and then wearing CZ’s. I guess maybe if I had CZ’s in a nice setting but I couldn’t do it with some play jewelry from like Target or something. You are going to have so many photos, including close up photos, why would you want to look at fake jewelry forever?
I say rent the real stuff! Feel like a Princess!

What a great idea! I’ll have to look into those sites! I think renting sounds awesome, and probably cheaper, too. 🙂

I like to buy whenever possilble. You can always resell something you own to recoup some $, but if you rent this isn’t possible.
