michy604:  I know how you feel! I just left my other job that I held for almost 8 months (don’t know how I survived that long).  My coworkers and boss were fine, just the client I worked for was insane.  What I did was tell potential employers that it was a contract position ending soon. Or I’d say if you have enough work experience, leave it off the resume.

I joke that the only thing I like about my job it that I only have to be there three days a week (I work 12+ hour shifts).  I don’t hate my job per se, but it’s often very demanding – both mentally and physically.

Scorpio88:  That’s a good idea to say it’s a contract! Did you find that the prospective employer wanted to call your current one for a reference though? Because with it not being a contract, that could get awkward… haha.

michy604:  Nope, but when I go to interviews, I come with a reference sheet already prepared, and I never put them as a reference on there. I tell them these references I have written down are the best to call because they’ve known me the longest and can give accurate information.

But I believe any former employer isn’t allowed to discuss the details of your job with a potential employer, just confirmed you indeed worked there and how you carried out your duties.

Scorpio88:  Nice way to phrase it to them. I will definitely be using a sentence like that or something to explain it. Thank you!

Not sure where you are, but here in Canada you are allowed to get into specifics about employees. Not just their duties, but everything else, also their general opinion like, “So and so is a whiner.” So… yeah. But I have lots of good references to offer, just didn’t want to use my current boss since I don’t want her to know I’m looking and also… she’s……………….. nuts.

Thanks 🙂
