I like my fiance’s last name and I definitely want to take it as my own, but I still feel a little weird giving up my own last name.  Many of my friends have called me by my last name since high school / college, which I really liked…I’m assuming they will continue to call me by my maiden name?  I guess time will tell.

I love his last name– it actually sounds very similar to mine, and is also pretty easy to spell, so I won’t have a problem switching over.  I’ve got the same issues as ehh5000, though; a lot of my friends (esp the guys) call me by my last name, so I guess that’ll probably stay the same.

I picked love it! My current last name doesn’t have the greatest memories for me so I have wanted to get rid of it since I can remember. However my new last name will be just as french, just as long, and actually harder to say and spell. So I guess you can say that I am used to spelling it out and people never getting it right. The funny thing is when we go out to eat we usually make up a name, one because our first names are so common that they are usually already on the list, and it takes several tries for them to get the last names right.

i love his last name, for him.  his is only 6 letters, woulda been almost hard to beat but mine has 2 letters!  it just feels like so much work (3X!) having to fill out forms from now on.  lol.

I love it but it’s another difficult name to spell.  No one gets my first name right ever.

His last name (Sullivan) is plain and common, just like mine (Campbell), so I don’t have strong feelings either way.  His is especially common around here, since we live in Boston, probably one of the most Irish-populated cities in the US.  I’ll be happy to take his last name, and it sounds good with my first name…but I have to admit, I’ll miss saying "Campbell, like the soup" whenever someone asks for my last name.

I don’t hate it, but I miss mine – I think mine was better.

I think my husband should take my name, it’s so much easier!   He doesn’t seem to think that I’m serious! No one can say his last name or spell it. So alas, I have been stalling the name change.

It’s alright, but doesn’t sound anywhere near as nice with my first name as my maiden name does (first and maiden name both start with the same sound). We have a really neat story behind our last name that I just couldn’t give up my maiden name, so I took it on as a second middle name.

I love my last name, it’s long, eastern european of some kind (we’re not sure where), and I have to do that thing over the phone where I spell it by saying it like (B as in Bravo, C as in Charlie). It’s difficult, but so unique! It’s one of those situations where if you have the last name, we’re related in some way. F’s last name is common, short and easy. He doesn’t understand why I am having trouble with the whole name change. When I suggested combining last names, he was completely against it (he has valid reasons, he’s the last of his family with his name) but he doesnt even really want me to hyphenate! I think he’s afraid I’m holding onto my last name for other reasons… And I have to do my best to not go all college gender studies on him about it, lol

I was pretty happy to take my hubby’s last name.  After 20+ years of having to spell my name to every person I met, plus correcting them on how to say it, it’s a relief to not have to do that.

I like my husband’s last name. But that with my first name makes me sound like a porn star. It’s gets even worse when I add my maiden name in there. Haha

LOVE it! I love my maiden name – I mean, hello? It’s my name! But I love the way my married name will sound. I often find myself doing the scrolly doodles of Mrs. Lxxxxx all over my desk calendar.
