I’ve seen that making sure that part of the eye area stays “dry” b/c generally makeup/concealer makes it oily.

I sometimes use a bare minerals eyeliner brush with a flat end (they don’t sell it anymore) but sometime like this should work to apply eyeshadow in the same color over it to “dry” it out.

I use a powder as my under eye liner. I first get the power wet with a eye drops (the thicker the better) as this give you a cleaner line. I put it under my eyes with the thinnest angle brush I can find. It sets well and stays put. Do not use water though or else it will flake. The eye drops are thicker and set so much better and are sterile if you have sensative eyes.

You have to make sure you are using good quality eye-liner. Unfortunately the cheaper stuff usually has more by-products in it that make it closer to wax than to makeup. You can also buy an eye primer. I know that MAC makes a good one that you put on after you’ve applied all of your foundation and before you apply the eye makeup. It comes in a little pot and looks like concealor, but it has a much lighter, silkier feel than regular coverup. This primer helps to set a base for long lasting makeup.

Are you currently using an eye liner pencil or the liquid type?

I know for eyeshadow I use Urban Decay primer and it works great also you could use Canvas pot by Clinque. I am not sure about liner…maybe put a light finishing powder over top of it. Good Luck!

EYE PRIMER IS KEY!!! Love URBAN DECAY!!!

Also good eyeliner as well. Buxom by Bare Essentials or Urban Decay are great products. Also so are their shadows. But SERIOUSLY try the primer first.

I use powderflage by BeneFit and it is the most amazing product ever. It sets all my make-up under and on my eyes and everything stays put. Love it.

ETA: its this light powder that almost has a purple tint to it but is mostly white/translucent…it comes with a little fan brush…I usually use concealer under my eyes but it I get lines and then my eye liner bleeds down into it giving that zombie look but powderflage sets all of it–also use a black powder eye shadow to set the eye liner

Urban decay 24/7 liner – works like a charm and actually stays put on the water line under the eye!

I have heard great things about primer, but I personally find that waterproof liner does the trick for me.  I will also apply black eyeshadow over top of the liner for a more dramatic look sometimes and that seems to sit just fine on top of the waterproof liner.

@berkie: I would try skipping the smudge eyeliner under the eye because if you’re finding that you’re getting too much of a raccoon look I would guess it’s that product that is causing it. If you want to decrease the severe line of your waterproof liner then I would smudge it with the same color in eye shawdow. Use a small flat head brush to rub shadow in over the liner you have already applied. This will give you a smokey look without the smudge factor. The shadow will have a tendency to wear off sooner then it would smudge, plus it will set the eye liner for a long lasting look. As far as primer goes, I usually dab a little bit along my lower lid. Be careful not to apply too much or it won’t allow your makeup to set properly. Play with the amounts you use each time to find the perfect blend that is compatiable with your skin type 🙂

i think it depends on what eye make up you use. if you buy a good quality brand.. it really should stay put. Ibought these cheapie gell eye liner and it was crap! I felt like very time i blinked my eyeliner dripped a bit

Another vote for Urban Decay Primer Potion. AWESOME. It’s totally worth the money.

Also, try liquid eyeliner. Mine never seems to do the raccoon thing like it did when I used pencil. I use a really chep felt-tipped brand from Walgreens and it’s amazing. I think it costs like $1.99.
