What are your tips for getting/staying motivated when your to-do list becomes overwhelming?
My go-to trick is to set a timer for 5/10/15 minutes and just do something. Usually if I don’t finish the task in the time, I’ll carry on to get it done. Unfortunately today I can’t seem to even get started with that!

I start with coffee, and while I’m drinking it, I get a piece of paper and fold it in threes and label from left to right (in each fold) MUST get done, would like to get done (then I add due dates next to the item), and due long term. Then I fill it out with my entire list of stuff and then get started on my musts. You’d be surprised by how making your list “smaller”, how much more doable it becomes.
Usually when I do this I can get through my musts, then get started on my would likes. Then, I feel better since I’ve gotten stuff done that isn’t quite a necessity yet. Make sure to take somewhat frequent 10/15 minute breaks though. Usually I’ll pencil these in between tasks. Like if I do 3 things off of my must/would like list, I can watch one youtube video (or something)

I give myself a deadline. I’m really deadline-oriented, but if there is no deadline, I tend to procrastinate. Even if I’m the one settling on the deadline, I still will respect that deadline and get it done.
I could say “fold your laundry by the end of the day” and get it done at 11:59 pm, but I will still make that deadline 😀

Totally counterintuitive (especially for a compulsive overachiever) but I have found when you have TOO many things on the to do list, that is the reason for not being productive, and intentionally taking a break where you intentionally, completely zone out for a good break (like Queer Eye) really helps!!
Deadline approach sounds good, too. 🙂 I find setting a schedule for the day that includes things that bring me happiness (even if that means just a vanilla latte before diving back into work) helps me a lot.

im a super lazy person, but i dislike a messy house. i dont drink coffee, sometimes drink tea. when i finally tell myself to get out of bed because im runnning out of time, i flip on my favorite shows on netflix i have already seen plenty of times and try to do as much as i can while it plays loudly. i can hear the show and imagine it in my head and i time myself in 24-25 minute intervals as the shows move on. for example this is the only way i get laundry done because once the show is over i know it may be time for the next load.sometime i play music, but only when im cleaning my room and cooking. those things i dont time, they just happen lol

I give myself lazy time until ______am/pm. Then I have to start my tasks. Also… Ive noticed if I get up and shower and get dressed, and for me, doing some sort of make up… Makes me feel better and motivated. When i look good i feel good, thus more motivated. Hard for me to be lounging in sweats on the couch and feel good/motivated.
Music is always a good one especially if its cleaning tasks.
