When you get a craving for junk food, drink a glass of water instead.

Frozen grapes. Its an awesome treat that is good for you.

Tape an inspirational picture to your fridge. A model in a wedding dress, a girl in a bikini, you when you were at your goal weight, etc.

Don’t keep bad food for you in the house.

Carry snacks you can eat with you everywhere you go. That way, when a friend wants to stop for fast food, you can pull out something and eat too.

I have been bad at dieting and exercising after our wedding. Maybe its time for me to follow along with my own advice… 🙂

MaraBeth, I have done the South Beach diet, and it can be brutal! I love carbs so saying goodbye to all those delicious things was painful. The biggest thing is to just avoid the tempting sitautions. I tortured myself by putting myself in certain situations like happy hour or even walking through the bakery section of the grocery store where I knew it would be hard to resist.

Also, one of the nice things about South Beach is that what you lose in carbs, you really do gain in tasty fats. While you can’t go hog-wild, definitely take advantage of the ability to use nuts, cheese, olive oil, etc. For example, one of my favorite recipes even after South Beach is the baked pesto chicken – google it! So delicious. Put it over some spaghetti squash and you won’t even miss the pasta!

I just went back on my “no sweets, fewer carbs, smaller portions” diet, so I feel for you.

@MM423: Unless I am really, really sick, I don’t have to force myself to eat. Um, it’s going, I’m on plan, but I am craving.
