My SO came down with the nastiest stomach virus on Wednesday. Of course I immediately cancelled our Halloween plans and took care of him all day except when I had to go to class. Same thing for Thursday and Friday he started to feel better. He insisted on sleeping on the couch Wednesday and Thursday because a. it was cooler and b. he didn’t want to get me sick. Well surprise! Saturday I came down with the exact same thing and it was HELL. By far the worst I’ve ever felt in my life. (and it’s still lingering today) Made me think I need to invest in some gloves and a mask next time he gets sick! How do y’all keep from getting the other one sick when you come down with something?

Since those things take a while to incubate before there are any physical symptoms, you were probably already exposed before all of the nasty stuff started happening.

We just deal with it if we get the other one sick, no masks or anything, we still kiss on the lips, and want to be as close as possible even when sick 🙂

Lordy, Darling Husband is a huge baby when he is sick. I baby him but I wash my hands a lot. I used to sleep with him anyway, but now I sleep on the couch so I don’t get sick. I make sure that I wash all the linens and steam the bed and pillows, then I freeze the pillows. I don’t think freezing has anything to do with germs, but it does kill dust mites and I just do it at the same time for convienence. I haven’t been sick in years and I don’t intend to start now.

Yeeeeah and I probably didn’t help matters because when he’s sick he looks so cute and I just want to ruffle his hair and touch his face and all the things I should not be doing! No kissing on the lips though since he was throwing up…
I admit I was a little bit of a grumpy pants when I first started showing symptoms because I REALLY didn’t want what he had and had tried to be villigent about washing my hands and stuff, but he was a very good nurse and waited on me all weekend 🙂

Yeah, Mr. LK always passes his germs to me. How rude! LOL

Honestly, if one of us is sick, the other gets it, too within a day. We just deal, it sucks sometimes though! 🙁

I don’t do anything differently other than just trying to make him comfortable. I figure I’ve probably already been exposed before he comes down with symptoms anyway so I don’t stress about it.

So we each took our turns. It’s my turn now. We don’t kiss and we don’t high five, or anything. He drives everywhere, because if I drive and sneeze all the mucus goes out and all over the place. So no driving for me!

My Darling Husband is such a baby when he is sick. Of course he gets lots of TLC, but he definately isn’t one to offer to make homemade soup for me,lol.

Darling Husband never gets sick, even if I bring something home. He has an immune system of steel. On the odd chance that he brings something home, he’s over it in a day, and I prepare myself for the absolutely worst bug/cold/etc. If he got over it in a day, I multiply that times 14, and that’s how many days it will be until I’m better. My immune systerm sucks and his is great. lol

I wash my hands alot, make sure we don’t drink anything out of the same cup and we kiss on the cheek until we feel better.

Here’s what I learned from raising 2 kids: when someone gets sick make sure there’s a ton of hand washing and I break out the bleach cleaner. Everything gets wiped especially door handles, light switches, faucet handles, refrigerator doors etc. I even do steering wheels. When there’s vomiting (the WORST!) no one touches anything without washing hands and the bathroom is bleached after every “session”. This may seem extreme, but 2 sick kids is far worse than one sick kid, and a sick mom on top of that is insanity. I usually don’t catch things from my Darling Husband even though we still kiss and I rarely catch stuff from my kids.
