DiamondnLovey:  Nope.  She will go outside….if we take her out there.  It just means we have to physically go outside in the cold too.  But she’ll hold it until we take her out (99% of the time).  She’s just super stubburn but we’ve accepted it. She’s lucky she’s so cute 😉

DiamondnLovey:  I don’t have a dachshund, but I do have two chihuahua mixes and live in cold Wisconsin.  I tried boots on them, but they would not walk at all with them on and always managed to escape them.  A few winters ago I found these weird looking booties in a local pet store, and I must say they have worked wonders! Although they look a bit ridiculous, they are fantastic. I think my dogs like them because they can still feel the ground, but they are protected from the elements.

They are called “PAWZ” and you can get them on Amazon if you can’t find them in a store near you.  They are reusable and disposable. One package usually lasts all winter (depending on how much annoying rock salt the neighbors use).  My jack russell/chihuahua mix is about 12lbs and wears the size XS. Just stretch them like a balloon and you’re good to go!

My Dora loves her jacket! Not so much the booties, so if I can’t get them on her, I try to limit the time she spends outside.

my dachshund Frank has so many sweaters and jackets for the cold! Some days when it’s super cold I layer both a sweater and jacket. if you go to noodleandfriends.com or voyagers k9 apparel on etsy, they make dachshund specific clothes and jacket to fit our weenies perfectly! 🙂

My doxie is long haired and she loves the snow. But our winters are known to drop below -30 celcius. So she sometimes wears a fleecy fur lines coat on top of letting her coat grow out through the summer.

We have two. My oldest loves sweaters, and when it’s really cold, he has a puffy jacket. The youngest (who is still a puppy) hates clothes of any sort and will just tough it out. He is not sensitive to the cold, so far. We will see as he gets older.
