I take it off when I’m showering or doing dishes. I do wear it to sleep, though.

I have ring cleaner at home that I use and it keeps it looking great! It’s only like five bucks at Target in the jewelry department.

I take mine off for almost everything, and i take it to where we bought it from and they clean it for free. Take it about once every two weeks!

I haven’t used any at home jewelry cleaner yet.  The jeweler has cleaned twice – once when J decided to use his great grandmother’s ring.  The second time was when I got my ring resized.

I take it off to:

  • Shower
  • Wash hands
  • Use lotion
  • Cook
  • Clean

It came with one of those Connoisseur travel-style sonic baths, I use that every now and again.  FI thinks I use it just a bit much.

Usually I fill a plastic cup with some warm water, antibacterial soap, and a children’s toothbrush.  I let it sit in the water for 10-15 minutes, scrub it lightly, and rinse.  I do it this way more often, because I have an emerald that can’t go through my sonic bath.

I take all of my rings off when I wash my hands, put on lotion, shower, sleep, clean(even with cleaning gloves), do housework/yardwork/maintenance, petting my longer haired cat, when I’m at work dealing with metal parts, and who knows when.

I’ve fallen asleep with my emerald on, and it seems that I’ll wake up in the middle of the night, take it off, and throw it under the bed, which confuses me the next morning when I can’t find it.

I take it off to shower because it inhibits my ability to wash my hair (haha) and to put on lotion. Other than that if you wash it with some soap when you wash your hands and run warm water through it, it will clean out any dust and junk πŸ™‚ I have jewelry cleaner that I use like once a week and the place I bought it from cleans it whenever for free too!

I don’t ever take mine off!  I get it cleaned at the jeweler’s every 6 months and as needed with warm soapy water.

I take mine off when I shower, use lotion, or when I do tons of cleaning/dishes.  Otherwise I keep it on, or I’ll lose it :-).  I usually use Connoisseurs Jewelry Cleaner that I buy from Target for like $5 (like this one here) every week or two.  And every 6 months I get it professionally cleaned.  You are right though at how different it looks when it’s clean!  I like it when it’s sparkly πŸ™‚

@SoontobeMrsA: Yeah, mine is from Target and it comes in a red container. It’s called “Ammonia Free Coonnoisseur Revitalizing Jewelry Cleaner.” It does an awesome job at shining it up. I’ve been engaged since last April and haven’t ever had my ring professionally cleaned, and I’ve had people remark at how sparkly and clean it looks.

I clean my every so often, I put it in a little tin dish with warm water and some soft soap. let it soak for a bit. I then take a soft make-up brush that i don’t use, and i use it to get into the cracks and between the diamonds and the gold. Then I put it in a little towel and pat dry. Looks better than when they clean it at the jewelers.

Please don’t do this before you ask a jeweler or do some research, but I read on ehow about cleaning diamonds with a windex solution and a soft bristled toothbrush.  I am guilty of trying it and it made my ring look so great.  Like I said though, I don’t know about any harmful things the chemicals in windex might do to the ring, so research before you try it.

I take mine off to shower, sleep, cook and clean. I am cleaning it in dishwashing liquid and warm water atm but I have ordered the jewellery cleaner that my jeweller recommended so when I get that I will clean it with a propper cleaning solution. I havent taken it for a professional cleaning yet- I’m excited to do it and see the results!
