How do you leave a gap between engagement ring and wedding band?

I believe you could have it soldered that way, although I think you’d need a connecting segment at the bottom of the rings.

It depends on the setting. Do you have a side profile pic of your ring?

I have a triple shank engagement ring so no way I wouldn’t have a gap with my straight band. I didn’t go custom because I really wanted a band I could wear stand-alone. I wasn’t sure I was going to wear the band and the ring together but I ended up loving the look!

For me if my rings are a little looser, they tend to move around and leave a gap occasionally, but I wouldn’t want you to lose your rings.  Maybe a spacer?

I like gaps for the same reason you do.

Even more so since I have a matching set so I had my rings custom made to have an intentional gap..

melissabeemz :  it looks like if you get a wedding band that sits higher, it will leave the gap you want since it just won’t fit under the stone.

melissabeemz :  Nothing connecting the two rings.  We had the struts on the basket made to curve outwards.  This is the best pic I have on my phone..

melissabeemz :  Your ering has a cathedral setting so most wedding rings will sit flush against the band. As a previous poster mentioned, if you get a wedding band that is thicker/taller than your ering, you will have a gap. It will need to be tall enough to meet the bottom of the halo.

I have two fashion diamond rings I wear the way you are describing… sorry no pic, but basically, I just stack them and they hang out on my finger that way, no need to solder. I also can switch the band ring over to my pointer, depending on the temp, since my fingers and knuckles are very finicky. Of course, my main fashion ring in this set is designed so that the base of the whole cushion sits directly on my finger, so they naturally hold that way. Like pp said, we’d have to see a side view of your ring to suggest more clearly.
