MrsBuesleBee:  that might be a good solution! usually I wear a 6.5 but I got it a 1/4 size smaller and it is a comfy fit, maybe another reason it doesn’t move?

I am a size 5..my ring is sized to a 5.5. I like it loose, I think it looks nice and airy if that makes sense.

I got mine resized to a 7 because it gave room for swelling in the summer and when run/race (hate sausage finger look and ring muffin top) and also to give a little extra room for when I get my wedding band as the rings will fit a lil snugger then too since will have two rings. In the winter if it loosens enough I’ll use a ring guard or a thin sizing band in front so they won’t slide off.

As for the trip, up to you. My aunt and my mother have taken theirs with their DH and never lost them, now when we went tubing a couple years ago one lady did loose her entire set to the river – she did say that it was a little loose on her. Maybe just wear a stand in, or see how your ring is potentially when you’re hands wet and wear a guard or something if worry – or to be safe just leave it at home. Completely up to you.

I, personally, wear my rings tighter than most jewlers would recommend. They can be pulled off with gentle force when my fingers are unswollen and are difficult to get off (I have to lick my finger and pull hard) when my fingers are swollen. I do this because I’m worried about my ring falling off. I had a cheap ring that fit fairly well but one day I washed my hands and then shook them to get the water off, and my ring went flying across the room. I also have a friend who lost his wedding band swimming on his honeymoon. So I wanted my ring to stay on my finger, even if I am wet or sweaty. I also don’t take my ring off very often, only when I’m doing something particularly messy. I think it would be fine to take it fishing.

MrsBuesleBee:  It just depends on how you like it. I like my rings loose – I have them sized 0.25 bigger than my finger in the summer. They move all around my finger, but my knuckle is bigger, so they don’t fall off. I also wear my watches loose too.

I would definitely make sure your ring is insured if you are worried about losing it. Its not very expensive and gives you peace of mind. I would wear mine fishing, but I wouldn’t wear it water skiing or something like that.

Congrats on your engagement!! You will get used to wearing it and then feel naked without it 😉

Mine move around but not too bad. as far as it falling off, my knuckles are slightly bigger so im not worried about that. if you’re scared about it falling off while fishing, dont wear it.

Your ring should not be so tight that you have a muffin top, but you should have to do some wiggling to get it over your knuckle. I had mine resized last year. I decided to go a quarter size larger than the jeweler said I needed. That gives me some room for fluctuation. Sometimes my ring is so loose it spins around my finger, and other times, like to day, I have a bit of a muffin top.

It sounds like you have the right fit for your ring. You’re just getting used to it. It always feels weird and kind of wrong when you first start wearing it.  But like others have said, you get used to it and kind of forget it’s there.

My ring is loose, and I selected its size on purpose. It’s loose enough to spin. If my fingers swell, it’s secure but not tight. If I’m cold, it doesn’t slip off my finger with normal movement but could if I shook my hand hard enough. I like it that way; it’s very comfortable and doesn’t give me muffin finger. It’s probably about 1/2 size too large for me.

I have super skinny fingers with big knuckles so my rings have to be big enough to go over my knuckle but then they constantly spin I absolutely hate it! I’ve thought of getting those little ball things put in but Its 125$ which I feel is too much for something so little!! I spwish I had normal fingers!

I have the opposite problem! My knuckles are weirdly small – no size change, fingers just get gradually wider towards the base. I guess that can be good in the sense that I don’t have to deal with rings spinning, but it also means that there’s nothing to keep rings from sliding off, so I prefer to wear them snug (even if it means a bit of unfortunate muffintop in hot weather). I concur with PPs, everyone’s fingers are different, so it might be worth talking to a jeweller about what’s best for you and trying some different things in the shop. Good luck and congratulations!

MrsBuesleBee:  my ring is about 1/4 – 1/2 size too big and constantly flops over. I couldn’t stand it so I bought a ring snuggie from Walmart. I think it’s about $5 for a pack of 5-6 different size plastic snuggies. Best investment ever! My ring now fits perfectly and doesn’t fall. And I don’t have to worry about it not fitting in the future!

kgba:  I have that problem too!!! I want the big knuckles! I wouldnt mind spinning if I knew the ring wasn’t going anywhere!

I’ve lost weight since we got engaged, and my fingers keep getting smaller… I’ve had a sleeve put in my e ring, but it’s feeling a bit too big again! Why, oh why didn’t I lose weight before he proposed?!?! ;P

playdohpants:  My brother actually lost his first engagement/wedding ring when he was carrying a canoe over a small stretch of land. Luckily it was just a plain gold band, but he was still really embarrassed when he had to tell his wife what had happened.

I wear my ring loose. It’s probably 1/2-3/4 size too big under normal circumstances, but my fingers swell like CRAZY in the summer. If I didn’t wear it as loose as I do it would cut off circulation as soon as the temperature started to climb.
