Hi bees – I’d love to hear how you guys plan to share or shared the news of a BFP. I don’t think I could wait long to tell him but I can’t wait to see his face, and it would be fun to do it in a creative way!

@hardtoconcentrate: I got my husband a card that said “Congrats” on the outside and on the inside I wrote “you’re going to be a dad!” and I wrapped up a digital test in there and also gave him a cute onsie set; one said “daddy’s play maker” with baseball bats and the other said “#1 draft pick” he loved it! It was a special moment. 🙂

Haha, I just posted on the POAS board about this. I want to buy Darling Husband a cute onesie on Etsy that says, “Daddy’s lil hunting buddy” BUT I’m so scared to buy it becuase I’m scared it will jinx us. I guess at this point, we’ve been trying for so long now, I guess it won’t hurt.
I’m excited to hear what everyone else has to say! : )

I am going to leave a cute onesie (probably “daddy’s little co-pilot”) in the kitchen in a box and ask him to go get me something. When he asks me what is in the box, I’ll tell him it is something I brought home and to check it out. It is going to be hard for me to be nonchalant. He is pretty good at knowing when I am hiding something.

My Darling Husband likes cows, for whatever reason. So I bought this really cute cow infant hat when we started talking about TTC. When I got a BFP, I put the hat and the positive test in a cute gift bag for him.

@Yellow.Clover: I’m the same way. I don’t want to buy something and then not have a BFP, but once I get a BFP, I’m not going to wait to tell him until I go out and buy something, especially since I’d really like to get something with his favorite baseball team which isn’t local, so it would have to ordered. I like the card idea, but he would know as soon as I handed it to him since 1) we don’t normally give each other cards for no reason, and 2) I have no poker face so I’d have this big stupid smile on my face.

I hung a onisie that said “Daddy & Me” (was the only one at the store that was gender neutral), a card that explained that a baby would soon arrive and I put a positive pee stick all in his closet then I set up a camera so I could see his reaction. He came home from work and when he went to change he saw it all. Although in the excitement, he missed the pee stick so he didn’t know for sure I was pregnant. His reaction was excited! He kept saying “are you pregnant? are you pregnant?” too cute.

I would probably just tell him, literally, “I’m pregnant” and show him the test, and I’m pretty sure spontenaiety would take it from there.

I was too scared to buy anything beforehand and then once I found out I couldn’t really wait to tell him. I woke him up right after I had taken a test, he was pretty much in shock but is thrilled that he’s going to be a dad.

My then-husband played basketball with the guys every Friday night. I had taken a pregnancy test on weds and thurs of that week and didn’t know how to tell him.
I came home from work early that special Friday and hid his favorite basketball. I let him look for it about a half hour and he was gettin miffed! Then I got the ball and stuffed it under my shirt…when he came back into the house from the garage I turned to give him a side view shot and just said “haven’t you noticed anything different about me?” it took him a good long moment to process but then he just got so excited. And was thrilled to have his BB back and go celebrate with his buds.
This was sooooo many years ago and a nice memory for me 🙂 Despite the failed marriage, we did make two fantastic kids together!!!

We’re not TTC but I thought of a cute way to tell him when the times comes. This is assuming I don’t just shove the test in his face out of excitement, haha. He loves Puma shoes and he’s always telling me that when we have kids, he’s going to buy them little Pumas. So when I get the positive test, I’m going to buy a pair of baby Pumas, wrap them up and give them to him to open. After he opens them, I’ll show him the test!

He was with me when I took the pregnancy test. I would’ve been too nervous to take it without him there.
Early in the day, I told him my period was a day and a half late. After dinner, we went and bought the tests. Since there were three in the box, we decided not to wait until morning. I went in the bathroom, took the test, put it on the counter, and walked out. He timed it, and then we went in together to check.

I never want to have kids, but if I was going to, I think I would say:
“What’s the difference between me and a lightbulb?”
. . .
“You can unscrew a lightbulb. I’m pregnant!”

I am in the process of creating a custom tshirt for myself that says “Bouncing around the womb” in reference to lyrics from our favorite band. I plan on wearing the shirt around the house until he notices (which won’t be long b/c my face can’t hide anything!)
He is very aware of where I am in the cycle and I am terrible at keeping secrets, so he would know if I handed him a card or a box right away that we were pregnant.

I’m terrible at keeping secrets, so I would never be able to test without him knowing. I would probably drag him into the bathroom with me and show him the test, lol.
