So we weren’t going to get engagement pics done (we don’t send Save-The-Date Cards here etc) but I would like to have some practice ‘posing’ for the camera and getting used to be photographed. I’m just not sure how to interact naturally etc. with Fiance for the photographer when we are both going to be very aware we are being photographed! Fiance in particular gets self conscious in front of a camera and struggles to smile properly.
Our photog’s style is more natural/candid photography (which we love) – not a lot of obvious posed stuff. She won’t direct us how to pose etc. but wil direct us towards good lighting, encourage us to interact naturally with one another. Except when I look at photos of engagement sessions in general (including hers) there is still an element of posing, surely. I mean I wouldn’t randomly sit on a picnic rug gazing soulfully into FI’s eyes normally… Any tips on how to be relaxed in front the camera (booze? haha) and ‘pose’ without actually doing set poses?
The engagement/practice session we are hoping to do will have a Mad Men vibe to it – we’re going to dress in clothes like that era and be in a vintage building. We don’t want to do set poses though (not our photog’s style).
