For the longest time I pronounced in mwah-so-nite. But today it occurred to me that it might be mo-iss-a-nite, and now I’m confused as hell.
How do you personally pronounce it?

I say mwah-sonite. I guess I thought of the French way of pronouncing “mois” but I guess I’m in the minority according to the poll!
When Moissan descendants lived in Canada, they pronounced their name Mwah-sohn. So since the gem is named for that inventor, it seems that the French pronunciation would have to follow. Mwahsohnite.
Moy-ZA-night…the 2 s’s take on a Z sound
I’m french-canadien so in french, it would be pronounced mwah-sah-nite. But I heard tyra banks pronounce it moy-sa-nite on her show when she was giving away earrings.
I agree that it probably should be pronounced “mwah-san-ite” (and maybe it is) but I spent several years in the jewelry industry and everyone called it “moy-za-nite”. I never once heard it pronounced the French way.
I’ve always said moy-sin-ite but the mwah-san-ite actually sounds so much better and so much classier IMO!
