2YorkiesMama:  Me too!  I just told my DH that I thought I was the only random weirdo who couldn’t do the reach behind bit.  I just don’t have the flexibility or patience!  I’ve always done it up in front and turned it around.

    The more you know…

Wow I’m shocked! I’ve always reached around and fastened it in the back. I never knew people fastened in the front and then turned it.

sarbeartoo:  I wear racer type bras as well, but I usually pull it over or on and then close and adjust after it’s closed.  I think that’s probably the number one way to stretch out a bra, and just have poor bra form, oh well.  When I wear regular bras I just reach behind me, honestly it’s like second nature.  I couldn’t imagine putting it on front and then turning it around, I don’t have that time in the morning.

I fasten in the back and assumed that was normal.. it’d be much more of a hassle to have to turn it around.

I fasten it before I put it on. Just pull it over my head, tuck the girls in and I’m good to go! I have a problem with my left elbow, so it hurts to reach around and fasten it in the back.

One of the women I work with asked me this recently, along with my other female coworkers…  she was shocked when I said I fasten in front and then turn it around.  Apparently most of the women I work with fasten it in the back.  The next time I went to put on my bra, I tried to fasten it in the back and I couldn’t do it.  Too difficult!

I’ve been told by a lingerie sales person that fastening in the front causes extra stretch on the elastics and can also cause the underwires to come out. She went as far as to say they wont refund a garment for that reason if you admit to fastening at the front.

On another note i put my arms in sit the cups under my boobies and fasten in the back by reaching.

When I wear sports bras (which is a lot) I wear ones where you have to pull it down over your head. I hate ones with clasps as when I am doing floor exercises (ie. situps) as it can cut etc.

With normal bras I clasp at the back behind me. The exception would be front-clasping bras and some strapless.

I didn’t know people commonly clasped them on the front and moved them around! And that’s saying something from someone who used to work in a bra specialist shop!

The only time I’ve done the clasps in front and turned it around was my long line bra for my wedding dress. I hated going to fittings by myself just because of that stupid bra!!!  Way too many clasps.

I thought I was a bad woman for fastening my bra in front. So glad now there’s others like me!

Definitely reaching back.  I’m obsessed with bras though, and I couldn’t stand to stretch them out like that.  I also like the band of my bras to be nice and snug, since that’s where 90% of the support comes from.  I don’t even think I’d be able to spin it around.  The underwires would hurt spinning it around, and it would be hard to get my boobs in!

I’d never be able to pull it over my head already closed.  It would never fit over my boobs without a fight.

I wear 30H bras for reference.

sarbeartoo:  I used to put it on backwards and spin it but now I put it on right and clip in the back.  I find the girls stay in place better that way.

I can’t do the reach around. lol I clasp it on my side and only need to do 1/4 spin around so there’s less stretching.  Unless for some reason you have to pull and tug on your bra to move the clasps to the back, I don’t feel like there’s that much stretching going on.  The bra I’m wearing today, I’ve had for 3 years, and still wear it on the last clasp.  It hasn’t stretched at all, and I’m not gentle with my bras…it’s not uncommon for them to end up in the regular wash cycle, as well as the dryer. oops.

FWIW, you are supposed to use the last set of eyelets when you first buy your bra, then if strectching occurs over time, you can tighten it up by using the middle or inner most eyelets.

i opened this thread just to view the poll out of curiosity.. and ended up reading some comments. now i have to comment because i was so suprised and shocked. i’ll admit to being a fasten in the front and turn it around type of girl. but i also fasten it while it’s around my waist.. i wonder if i’m still getting the same wear and tear fromt the comment about the lingerie stores?

and so the question becomes where are you fastening them? for the reach behinders is it, put your arms in the straps first and then reach around, or do you fasten behind first and then put your arms in? any pulling upwards involved?

what an interesting topic youve opened up here OP.
