@lioness_89: Put yourself on a budget. It’s hard, and sometimes you’ll break it, but you have to keep trying. Over time, it’ll become routine, and you’ll be amazed about how much you can save. To help save up for the wedding, Fiance and I have limited ourselves to going out to dinner to twice a month. Also when it comes to buying anything that is a non-essential, the first thing we ask is, “Do we really need this?” My best way to motivate myself to keep on budget is I take sticky note and write this week’s wedding related cost I’m hoping to pay off on it and stick the note on my computer screen at work. Anytime I want to go eat out with co-workers even though my lunch is sitting in the refrigerator or run to Starbucks even though I have tea in my desk, I look at the sticky note at it reminds me what I’m working for. Good luck!

@Olive12:  That is a great Idea I will be stealing your idea!

And it sounds odd But I make (Almost) all of our cleaning products! I didnt even know it was possible but I make 5 gallons of laundry soap for about 3 dollars (HUGE MONEY SAVER as we are a family of 4)

You can put orange peels in regular vinegar wait a few weeks then put half water half of the orange vinegar and you have a cleans just about everything good smelling cleaner and it works!

Plan your meals around what is on sale and use your frezer! We always have a ton of things we got on sale in bulk in our freezer.

If you are bad about actually cooking make things easier on yourself have “premade” by you foods in your freezer that you just need to throw in the oven or crockpot!

I shop at discount grocery stores whenever I can. Buy some things in bulk, don’t buy music, no cable- just watch tv on hulu and network websites, shop at discounted retail stores (tj maxx, marshalls), don’t drive just to one place at a time, try to stack errands, if I see something on sale that’s usually not- that I constantly need, I buy it right then and save it.

@Olive12:  We give ourselves about $75 a week on groceries and if we go over we use the left over the next week.

Also, if we have the option between cans and glass for beverages we go with cans because you get a better return at the recycling center.

@MsPanda:  And I’ll be taking up your tip of the vinegar and oranges. Lately, I’ve been trying to eliminate as much chemicals as I can from my environment. I never realized until recently how many unnecessary chemicals I’m exposing Fiance and myself to.

@nineteen87:  I love TJ Maxx. I just bought a brand new comforter/bedding set for about $40. A similar one at Macy’s retails for almost $200. Smile

@Olive12:  I am glad to help! Just remember you want the oranges and vinegar to sit for around 3 weeks and after 3 months you want to switch out the orange peels!

@lioness_89:  I promise the laundry soap is worth it I spend 30 minutes every few months making it and it saves SO MUCH MONEY! I now spend less in 1 year that I used to spend in 2 months on laundry soap!

We save about $2,000 a month by budgeting. At the beginning of the month, we withdraw the budgeted amounts from our bank accounts and put them in an envelope. One for food (groceries, drinks, eating out) and one for fun (shopping, movies, etc.) The envelope system helps because we don’t have to constantly think about how much we spent last week or who paid for dinner – just check the envelope!

We take the savings right off the top. That way there is no option to go over budget. What you don’t see you won’t miss!!
