I say twenty eleven sometimes and two thousand eleven other times. I don’t see an issue with either.

@ddw: He has a good point but now that it’s a new millenium, we’ve adapted to saying 2 thousand or twenty. I’m sure when it 2134, we won’t say 2 thousand one hundred thirty four, we’ll probably say twenty one thirty four… but when it’s 3011, we’ll say 3 thousand eleven.   Or maybe we won’t have to talk because we might be mind reading at that time.  HAHA

Haha, I always say two thousand eleven.  I have never said twenty eleven.  LOL.  That definitely makes sense though!

I go for whatever is the quickest to say so, “twenty eleven” works for me. I dont care how people say it as long as its not “O-Eleven”. We have an annoying car salesman in our area that insists on saying “o-eleven”. It makes me cringe every time I hear his stupid voice on the radio.

We dont say 19- o – 8 anymore either (1908) for the 2000’s – he needs to get with the times, its all about the two thousand and 11!!

@Miss Sydney: I say two thousand and eleven as well. Do only us Aussies add the ‘and’ in between?

@ddw:  They way I would explain that is it’s normal to say nineteen hundred for 1,900, but you don’t say twenty hundred for 2,000, you just say two thousand!  So it makes more sense to say two thousand eleven.  🙂

I think it depends who I talk to; if I’m trying to be more formal I’ll say two thousand eleven. If I’m saying it fast or casually or something then I’ll say twenty eleven (:
