- Wedding: July 2012
I just have to share… I am so excited! Ahh! I just got home from the jewellery store where we ordered my wedding band. We dropped my e-ring off with them a couple days ago, and today we got to see a wax mock up of what my ring will look like. Sooo exciting. :O
When my Fiance got my ring from a reputable, big name jewellery company, they told him they had a band to match it… when we returned to ask to see such a band, it turned out that they lied. :/ I spent weeks looking online for a match for my sort of tension set style-ish ring it with no luck at all. Eventually, we decided to go to this custom jeweller my Future Mother-In-Law goes to all the time. I wonder if they didn’t give us a bit of a deal because she is such a frequent customer. The store is run by a husband and wife, and the wife was remembering the first time she saw my Fiance ten years ago!
When we were in the custom store, my Future Mother-In-Law kept asking me over and over if I want to return my e-ring, which I have worn every single day since last June, and exchange it for a ring that has a matching band. The wife of the jeweller gave her this look of complete shock and I had to actually defend my desire to keep my e-ring. It was very odd. She made me list reasons I didn’t want to exchange it. Am I that strange for wanting to keep my ring? My Fiance told me later that it was because she does not believe in attaching emotional value to objects and would have exchanged my ring if she were in my shoes, because my ring was such a bother.
Well, it all worked out… and I haven’t even shared the best part!! I was planning on just getting a plain band with no stones on it… but then my Fiance asked if they had any good stones in purple (I am obsessed with purple) and they pulled out a little plastic baggie full of PURPLE DIAMONDS. I almost lost my mind! And – and – and… they are giving me three set into my ring for free. There is no extra cost on top what they asked for a plain band. Did you Bees know that there are diamonds in PURPLE??!! I didn’t. Unfortunately, though, they are keeping my e-ring until its mate is finished, so that it can match absolutely perfectly.
I couldn’t help myself but share. I am over the moon about this! At the same time, though, I keep touching my finger where my e-ring usually sits. It’s freaking me out a bit not having it there. I never realized how much I fiddle with it until now. My Fiance keeps telling me that my special e-ring (her name is Gertie) is off making a special ring friend, but it’s still hard. This is day three of not having my e-ring. 🙁
How does everybody else cope with missing their special ring? And sorry for the long, excited ramble. I just needed to get it out!
