Just wondering how all you other bees stay organized during your planning? I just got a gift in the mail today from my out of town Maid/Matron of Honor – an adorable (and extremely thorough) wedding binder complete with everything a bride-to-be could need. I love it! I hired a wedding planner yesterday, but I will definitely still be putting this baby to use. I’m just a tad bit OCD when it comes to being organized! So bees, what helps/helped keep you sane and organized?

I ordered the free planner from 1800registry.com and since the binder was so huge I took what was applicable to our wedding and put it in my own smaller binder. Added some sheet protectors and envelopes to hold info from vendors. We’ll see how organized it keeps me 🙂

I used a three ring binder with dividers labeled with things like “invitations” “florist” “dress.” I also had a section with my name and my husband’s name for the small little things that specifically fell under each of our responsibility. By the time the wedding came the binder was filled but it was well organized. Every contract, every little tidbit, every vital piece of information, I had everything. At the wedding when I had a small freak out when I thought I didn’t have our marriage license I opened my binder and there it was in the back pocket, right where I put it the minute we got back from applying for it.

@KelsieLea7: Personally, I didn’t bother with the binder – it gave me a headache just looking at it. I created an Excel Spreadsheet with everyone’s names, addresses, etc. and then I kept a running list of who received a save the date, who RSVPed – for how many, who was invited to the shower, who sent a gift (and what it was), I kept track of when I sent my thank you cards, etc. It’s really been pretty easy keeping track of that stuff. The rest of my things (DJ, Photo, Video, etc.) I just keep in the folder that my venue gave me. 🙂

Spreadsheets! I have an excel spreadsheet with different tabs for each aspect – guest list, budget, to-do, timeline, projects, vendor payments, wedding party details, etc.

I have spreadsheets, a folder of “inspiration” on my computer, and an awesome sweet planning book/binder thing my aunt got me with tons of stuff in it and accordian pockets on the back. I love it! It even has our picture on the front. Dorky, I know!

I have a master spreadsheet with about 15 tabs for everything from schedule, guest list, vendors, DIY projects, etc. And my wedding is 2 years away haha. It will be pretty organized I think!

@LuckyClover: Same here. That binder is massive and that’s with me taking out the folders I didn’t need.
OP, like some of the other brides I also have Excel spreadsheets to keep track of spending. I also have a master checklist that I update every two weeks. Also, I also use a traditional planner in my every day life instead of an electonic one so I mark all my wedding appointments and info in a different color ink. Because I use my planner day in and day out, the colored ink is a reminder I never miss a wedding related event.

What SHOULD I give a bride that after a year still only has one bridal magazine, does not use excel, does not have a smart phone, will not hire a planner, and generally has no idea how to organize herself? It’s driving me and Maid/Matron of Honor loony.
