Aw I think all your stories are great. I’m such a pansy though my sensitive eyes got the best of me and I had to take a break between every story because I’m at work and I don’t want to get caught getting all sensitivo over here. Haha. Thanks for sharing your stories.

Other. I sincerely never thought we’d be engaged. It just didn’t seem like something he’d want to do and I didn’t think we’d be doing it for years. We’d been together two years than we broke it off when I went across country for a year to pursue a job. I returned this summer and couldn’t stop falling in love all over with him, but instead of a messy, fun boy he had matured into this thoughtful, sincere man. We had only been back together about three months before he left the country. He had been on vacation and while in Rome bought me a souveneir. I came to visit him as soon as he was home. He wanted to take me out to the same place we had our first date years ago. As we were leaving he got on one knee and gave the sweetest speech I can only half remember because I was in so much shock. I love my ring so much, and it’s made all the more special by the thought he put in the detail. I found out later that he had been planning on waiting 3 months- he barely made it 3 minutes. : )

I was shocked because it was so unexpected. We had only been daing for a two months. I fell in love with him within two weeks of us dating but was afraid to tell him. I asked him when did he know he loved me. He said the first time we talked he knew that I was the one but he didnt want to scare me away by telling me. He said that he waited until he couldnt wait anymore (1 month later). I told him I felt the same way and I was scared to tell him. He said when it is right you just know it and we both knew it. He popped the question over the internet I said yes but it is not official until you propose with a ring. He said I was right and he promised he would propose again the way he envisioned it.

wow these are intense stories! I can’t see Fiance doing anything but these are all so cute and lovely!!
I love my story cause its so… unromantic and everyday and him.
We were chatting and he says “so do you think you want to marry me”
“Yeah, I do I love you.”
“Ok well we should get married then.”
look at each other for a while… “now what”
“we should get a ring”
“and tell our parents”
*and they lived happily ever after* lol

I knew it was coming so it wasn’t really a surprise. His sister had let it slip that the ring was coming in the mail that day. He lied and told me it never came, but I knew better.
He was bringing me home at like 11:45pm and there was a lightning storm. He got down on one knee in the driveway and held out the open ring box (complete with the du-du-du-duhhh trumpet sound, it was so cute). He didn’t say anything for a second, so I had to ask him to ask, but he did and I said yes. I was giddy for the next two days,

@abirdword: that is SO cute! I”m a bird nerd too and that might be my favorite proposal story of all time.
My guy had apparently been trying to get me alone somewhere outdoorsy and romantic all summer, but I work out of town a lot in the summer (I’m a biologist) and when I was home, I kept inviting friends on all our hikes and camping trips. Finally he got fed up, came to the hotel where I was staying for work a few hours away, and surprised me there when I got back from the field. It was super cute.

@abirdword: That has to be one of the cutest proposal stories EVER. I accidentally made happy noises when I read it…and I’m at work. Oops. 🙂

I thought my Fiance would have done something while we were out Mountain biking or on our anniversary. But I do love how he did it anyway. Even if I did mess it up.

Mine is a long story. It wasn’t what I expected, but it was sweet all the time. He did it on our 9 year anniverary at the park where we ended our first date. He was going on and on about our relationship and where we were and where we’d be if we hadn’t met, and I got clued in and told myself that I’d better start listening hard so I can remember this, because it seemed like the proposal. Now, neither one of us hardly remember because he was nervous and I was getting lightheaded, I guess.
I expected the one knee thing, but I don’t know if he forgot it or what, but he didn’t do it. I have not asked him about it because I don’t want him to think I didn’t get what I wanted.

There are some amazing stories here! @abirdword: Yours is particularly awesome. I love it.
DH and I met the day after Christmas in 2002 when a mutual friend invited us both to come ice skating with him a few other people. After that, we dated for two years, broke up and didn’t see each other for several years, and then got back together while I was living on the other side of the planet. Exactly eight years to the day after we met (and the day after our first Christmas in the same hemisphere after getting back together!), DH and I went with that same mutual friend (DH’s roommate by that point) to the same ice skating rink we met at so many years before….
And it was PACKED. We had to wait forty-five minutes just to pay to get in. When I saw how long the line was and how many people were on the ice, I actually turned around and told DH we should just go home. He said no, since we had come all this way and it was our meetaversary, we should stick it out. I gave in.
Earlier, our mutual friend had demanded that I give him my camera so he could document the day. Around this time, he took picture #5 of the day, and the camera went black and said the memory card was full. He started freaking out and trying to decide which pictures to erase, and I wouldn’t let him erase any of the older pictures because I hadn’t put them on my computer yet. He ended up deleting most of the ones he had already taken that day.
When we FINALLY got onto the ice, DH and I made a few laps, and then he pulled me off to the side. He told me that when we met eight years before, little did he know that he was meeting the love of his life, the girl he wanted to spend forever with. Then he dropped down on one knee, said some other stuff I couldn’t quite process, and asked me to marry him. I said yes.
Our friend, although he was only able to get a few pictures, captured the perfect moment.

On our 3 year anniversary, Fiance took the day off from school, but I didn’t know it. He pretended to go to school, but he actually went to our new house and decorated. He then came home, and we spent the day together. We went to dinner, and he was acting so weird. He didn’t propose. Then we went to a coffee shop, and he still didn’t propose. We ran to walmart and got blackberries and bananas, and then we went back to our new house, and I was pretty flustered and disappointed. He asked me to take the stuff back to our minifridge in our room, and he followed me. I didn’t think anything of it, and then when I got to the room, he grabbed my waist and flipped out the light. This is what I saw:
and here is my ring:

That’s a cute story and the heart prongs on your ring are adorable.

Well, it is interesting but I will make it short. I proposed to him. I know, kind of untraditional, but its who we are. I never thought I wanted to get married. I don’t like the big to do about it. I am not putting anyone else down, its just not for us. I knew he wanted to get married and one day we were sitting outside playing cards, just a relaxing Tuesday evening at home. We got talking about all the weddings that had been going on recently (all of our friends are getting married) and I mentioned that I didn’t so much dislike the idea of marriage, I just didn’t like weddings. i told him I would marry him if we could do it our way. Go to the courthouse or have a destination wedding. He looked at me and said, “are you asking me to marry you?” I said “it looks like i am.” it was great. there was nothing planned, no ring even. It was completely spontaneous and romantic. We will be saying out i do’s in december at the county court house with our two best frineds by our side and we couldn’t be happier.

My proposal day was as follows:
I was at work (a waitress at a Chinese restaurant) and he had been texting me, saying he’s going fishing with some friends. That was fine by me, I was working and wanted him to have fun. After a while, he texted and told me they had found an amazing fishing hole where there were tons of fish biting, and wondered if I wanted to go out there when I got off work. I agreed, I’m a very outdoorsy type person.
So he picked me up after work, drove me down some winding gravel roads out in the beautiful country (we live in Iowa) and we pulled up to a closed off old abandoned bridge. Another fun fact about me: I love old bridges! I’m a complete sucker for them! So already at this point I was ecstatic.
He said “the fishing hole is just under this bridge, but I figured you’d first want to walk on it since you love them so much” So we were in the middle of this gorgeous old bridge, there were a few rocks by our feet and he kept picking them up and throwing them down into the water. Well, about the 4th time he bent down to grab a rock, he just stayed down on his knee.
I couldn’t believe it when he started reaching in his pocket and started in on “Keri.. I love you so much….” I knew what was coming next. He pulled out the ring (the one that I randomly pointed at when we were at the mall and said “that’s really pretty”–he remembered!) and asked me to marry him.
AHHHHHH!!!!! I was so delighted I burst into tears and jumped up into his arms and he held me and we kissed and it was perfect 🙂 The best part: I had no idea this was coming.
And now…. we are MARRIED! As of September 8, 2012 🙂

i actualy proposed to my Fiance. i spend the day witht he girls of my family in niagara falls. it was my 26th birthday. at lunch after a few cocktails i blurted out that i wanted to propose to him that night and i needed to find a ring. after wandering around we found a shop that sold spinner rings. the one i bought ended up being 1.5 sizes too big. in the evening we had a few friends over for drinking and ended up playinga few drinking games. we took a break so everyone could refill and use the washroom. i attatched a little alice in wonderland type tag to the ring that said ” always be my player 2″ (we’re gamers) and a second tag that said “will you marry me?” i pulled him into the kitchen by ourselves and only said ” i’m serious” and gave him the ring. he read the tags and said yes. he wore the ring with the tags will attatched for about 20 minutes. our friends were in the living room along with his little sister who asked what he said. i said he said yes and she came running in with erh camera taking tons of photos. she took a photo of my grabbing his butt. lol. not romantic but its us.
