Sounds delicious! I like the variety, and it is comforting, familiar food without being grilled cheese. I think you did a great job.

Sounds perfect! Good variety and has a lot of the standard foods!

I love the intimacy of your family style service as well as your theme πŸ™‚

If there’s a chance you’ll have any vegetarians there, it might be nice to have some sort of main course for them so they’re not just stuck with rice and vegetables.

it sounds delicious <—-coming from a person who went to culinary school

sometimes i just want yummy familiar food.  i’m tired of a menu that reads like this: tournedos of beef, gratin dauphinoise, harico verts — okay you’re serving me steak, scalloped potatoes, and fancy green beans?

i went to two weddings in a month.  the first was served buffet style and the menu was very similar to the one you had in mind.  it was a small wedding so they booked the penthouse of a hyatt regency.  the groom’s family were all from a small town and liked “simple” food.  it was quite delicious.  the chicken quarters were pan-seared to perfection.

i then went to my brother’s fancy plated dinner reception.  the food wasn’t bad but the homestyle meal was better.

@Future Couture: I over think things too. It’s nice to have others reassure you. What area of Mass are you getting married in? I used to live there. In fact all my family lives there but we decided not to get married there because I assumed everything would be twice as expensive there than down here in Louisville where I currently live.

Oh ok, My brother actually got married this past weekend down in Great Barrington. I think the place was called Crissey Farms. It was nice but not so sure it was worth the price tag. Everyone had a blast though! Aww, I am jealous of your New England wedding!

GO SOX!

@Future Couture: I absolutely understand. I am paying for most of it myself. In fact, I am thinking of scrapping the ENTIRE wedding I have planned right now for something not so expensive. Yes, I want my dream wedding but I am starting to realize how ridiculous the spending is getting and I am not even spending a lot compared to others on here.

Sorry, I just took over your post. lol
